Ron Mancini worked in the trans lab back then and I was the new kid in the Dyno Lab (next building over) 1967. I found Ron and used to sneek awy from my lab and we would bench race allot. All I wanted to do back then was DRAGRACE, anything at all, it was a true passion. I'm sure I drove everyone nuts. I literally almost lost my job at Chrysler because of all the time off for racing. I would go to allmost every test day at Detroit dragway or Milan when the Racegroup would rent the track. Yea, I had the Dream Job, everything just kinda fell into place. Early on I had a 440 maxwedge Plymouth that I would take to the test days and make about 50 or so runs in a day. Got a lot of practice with the 4spd.
Oh well, great fun! Thanks for the intrest.
Greg

Found the car in this link when Ron Cheshier owned it.

So what does this '65 A990 Belvedere look like today...does it still have the same Mopar Performance paint on it or was it repainted to look like someone else's nostalgia car...does anyone here know for sure.

So does anyone here know the race history of this '65 Belvedere, was it a real A990 car or not, and who were some of the previous owners of it...

I was thinking that the Hale '65 went to Southland and then to Tim Hebert? The 5-50 car sure looks like the Hale car in red though. These Hemi cars seem to get traded around in a small circle of racers.

It's interesting to watch the evolution of the hood scoop as the cars aged, they seem to get bigger and bigger openings as the years went by.

Re: A990 Super Stockers

I seem to remeber reading a article that the 5/50 car was a recent new build for NSS racing. Not a real a990.
