First of all, congrats again to Kevin Helms for his Stock World Championship!! So glad that Elena is there celebrating with you!!


We got up early today and drove another 700 miles today. We drove thru New Mexico and then into Texas on I*10. There were lots of policemen in Texas especially along the border. At the inspection station, they just asked if we were US citizens and a big german shepherd sniffed around our trailer, but no problems. We have stopped for the night just east of San Antonio. Scenery was not nearly as outstanding as it was on the way out, but I have a few pictures.

Well, this is my first post in DAYS. Yesterday morning Jeff Adkinson, Willie Evans, and Joe and I went to the little airport restaurant for breakfast. A large outing for me.....but my scrambled egg was wonderful. The guys had a great breakfast though... And to all the wonderful people who just left "healing contributions" on our door steps...THANKS SO VERY MUCH>>> I heard there was yellow tape around our motor home.. Elaina Helms, thanks for the Campbells's chicken noodle soup, and Jim DeFrank for the Pedialyte, and Frank Grossi for offering to get more of the same. People that I didn't even know left Gatorade. But, Joe has cancelled the tomb stone he had ordered.. Whew... So, this is my giant thank you note.. . We are this morning headed HOME to North Carolina...But not until we stayed yesterday to see our dear friend, Jeff Adkinson win Super Stock in Pomona. ...pictures of the celebration to follow... Speaking for many of us we can't thank you enough ! Being able to follow along was awsome . Most of all for me personally it's a must do , a bucket list top 5 for sure. First to see our great country while doing some racing ,with some of the best people in the world . Dam that seems like a win,win,win. Thanks for painting the picture !

Saw these cotton fields in Arizona yesterday.. We googled it and cotton is a large industry here. Apparently almost all of the cotton fiber growth and production occurs in southern and western states, dominated by Texas, California, Arizona, Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana. How's that for some early morning "info". ...

We are back home safe and sound! We arrived late yesterday and I have a few more pictures to post that were taken along the way! Maybe after I get the washing machine going, I will try to get at the rest of them!


Getting here about 2 hours before we did, were Jimmy Hidalgo and Bear and Doug and Rhonda from Louisiana! They are here deer hunting! They didn't even have their motorhome parked and unloaded before they had 4 deer. They got at least 2 more this morning. The best thing is they brought lots of shrimp and fish to cook while they are here!!

Ok, ending tonight, as we have stopped in Midland, Texas at a Flying J that has CINNABONS.. OMG.. After filling up, Joe came walking out with fresh pizza for himself ( Me and the tummy are not ready for that) and a box of Cinnabons.. I mean in a Flying J...Seriously.... So we'll hit the road again in the morning.. Think we are booked in here for the night.. Oh, and did I say GO DUKE!!! (Sorry, Larry)

In 1998 I got to go on a mini-tour. Don Little & I towed our cars to Houston, Phoenix & Pomona. So. Much. Fun. Most nights we would stay in a rest area, driving until dark. One morning we woke up, walked out to get in our trucks and saw the sign about the snakes. I don't know about Don, but it freaked me out, as I had done a little walking around after arriving the night before! There was no more walking in the dark after that! lol

This was a great place to stop, just east of San Antonio! They don't let in regular tractor trailers, but a great place for motorhomes and trailers. And diesel fuel was $1.99! Great food inside, too! And lots of parking, even overnight!
