Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop

My stinnett carb runs around 11 to one on the stop about where it should be to keep it from hesitating when coming off the stop. The engine is throttled on the stop but still running on the main metering circuit and 3rd circuit. A throttled engine wants more timing than under load at wot . No power valve and leaving the timing the same at wot as on the stop will cause richer running on the stop but like I said it should be a little richer. Combustion Temps are going to be a lot lower on the stop but I don't have egt data

I appreciate all of you sharing your wisdom. 91 doesn't seem like a lot of main jet but I guess its just too rich

91 mains are relatively small , but a lot depends on the air bleed sizes and emulsion bleeds .
plus you said you race primarily at higher altitudes where you would normally lean the engine and run more timing .
I would still recommend a call to Stinnett . he knows what the bleeds are and why it already has smaller jets .
