It is but NHRA allowed a replacement carb such as a #3310 750/780 CFM carb in stock and S/S.

The car I am Looking at is a "R" Code.......

Should it be a "Q" for a Cobra Jet instead of a "R".

The only difference is the "R" code is a ram air car and the "Q" code in non ram air.

It wouldnt be OK for a restoration Barrett-Jackson type car but for NHRA drag racing its all Hunky Dory.

13.85's @ 102 MPH.

With that rev limited set at 5800 I can't see it even making it through the traps with 4.30 gears G60 tires.

But I'll guess 13.30 hitting the limited from 1100 foot on.

I had one for many years. Black "R" code SCJ coupe with every option imaginable.
1969 FoMoCo Chicago Auto Show special build. I bought it from the original owner who lost his licsence.
Very fast street racer that made me a lot of money.
Sold it to Tony's Godfather during my divorce and he still has it as far as I know.
I'll post some pics.

I would also agree that it would be on the chip and low 13's. If they didn't have the rev limiter set so low I would say it should be in the high 12's.

Speed Age got the car to run a best of 13.18 @ 109.5 MPH

Average times were in the 13.20's @ 108 MPH.

The Rev-Limiter was put in for a 'reason', obviously...as the test
was controlled and observed by a 'neurotic and extremely nervous'
Ford Dealer representative.

The Speed Age Magazine car-testers came to the conclussion;
* removal of the Rev-Limiter,
* install 7" 'M & H' slicks on 15" x 6" rims
* thinner front tires 7.35 x 15"
* tweak the Holley 780 CFM carburetor

Estimated Performance; 12.80's @ 112 MPH.
