Re: 1965 Mercury Comet
Did a regular 289 '64 Comet come with the fiberglass hood option? I saw one this year in SS/M at a NHRA event and wondered if it was correct.

BBF67,
Don't think the 1964 Mercury Comet could be ordered with a 'factory option' fiberglass hood. Available as a 'dealer ordered' over the counter purchase 'only'. |

Re: 1965 Mercury Comet
The 1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone 289/271 'Hi-Po' was more than able to hold its own on the street.
Add, A) 4.88 Gears B) Traction-Masters C) Hurst Shifter D) Belanger Headers E) Transitorized Ignition F) Blueprinted Cylinder Heads G) 7" M & H RaceMaster Slicks And was a decent performer at the Drag Strip in 1965 and 1966, but as soon as those Chevy guys figured out they could run the 1957 Chevy 150 Business Coupes with the 283/283 HP 'Fuel Injection' in D/S in 1967,,, That's all she wrote for the Mercury Comet Cyclone's |

Re: 1965 Mercury Comet
Thats the hood I'm talking about. If it did not come on a 64 Comet why is one running in SS that way?
