Re: Trans cooler hose

Just a quick heads-up about removing trans coolers...... If you remove the cooler, the cooler lines should be looped together or the front pump internally modified to allow oil pressure and flow to be maintained through the transmission cooler oil circuit... This circuit usually is part of the lube circuit inside the trans......... No flow or pressure...No lubrication.... Bob |
Re: Trans cooler hose
My last three transmissions were modified internally to eliminate the cooler. Had the external holes plugged.

Re: Trans cooler hose
Agree Mr. Bob Mulry! Back then we just made a loop to return fluid with metal lines. A lot of the newer cars are pretty tight for the nice bends required with a loop. Modification to the trans to just use plugs is the best.
Not that having a cooler is a bad thing when hot lapping, I just seem to have more problems getting up to trans temp than cooling down. Alot of the big money bracket racers are using chillers on the trans like we do on the engine between rounds. Not sure how they move the fluid? But I have seen them being used on dragsters that have trans coolers mounted above the trans? |
