My current combo: 1985 GT Mustang 1988 EEC4 speed density system Intake EGR blocked off 120,000 mile stock motor with Cobra roller rockers and under drive pulleys Full aftermarket exhaust Aluminum rad/ electric fan AOD with some upgrades. Eliminated lockup. 2400 stall converter Aluminum driveshaft 4.10's Strange adjustable front struts Team Z rear upper/ lower control arms w/ air bag Fiberglass cowl hood Manual rack/ pinion Lowering springs Future plans: Moving the battery to the back to help even out the front to rear weight. Ported GT40 heads with an Explorer intake later this season. I'm planning on running the stock cam for awhile to see what I can squeeze out of it. I'm planning on some cosmetic changes over the winter such as later model qtr. windows and later model dash. The car will kind of be a little bit crossbred appearance wise. The car goes 13.6X @ 99.5 the way it sits. It WILL go faster this year with very few changes. Possibly if I left the stock 1985 dash and quarter windows and put a stock hood back on it I could pass tech. Not 100% sure about that though. I don't think there are any races near me except maybe Norwalk. Not sure if US131 hosts anything I would have to see the schedule. |

Re: G/PS Mustang GT
Unfortunately life stepped in and clogged up the entire summer and fall. I missed my normal races, and after putting the little G/PS back together I have been itching to get out. While checking out that everything was back together correctly on a mellow test drive third gear decided to leave and make a mess of the trans. It didn't have that many passes on it but as we all know the T5 isn't robust. A new GForce WC T5 with more durability is installed. I had to change the gear set as the 3.35 cluster isn't available in the stronger trans.
I am finally ready to get out and test the freshened motor, new trans, and the few other upgrades. I need to find a new baseline for the car with the changes. Testing fuels too. The goal is to find the proper new launch and shift points. See if the tire psi's still stand, see which fuel the car likes best and find if the base timing is still best. The previous best ET is a 12.801 @ 104.xx, the goal is to go under it. Wish us luck while we go have fun at Mid-Michigan on Sunday. |
