We do our like Rick said in our A Body stuff.

Round tubing with plates on both sides that brings
it up a foot to foot and half above floor.
I can E Mail you pics if you like.

Mine is just a couple inches from the wheel so to
reduce movement after leaving line.

Of course......I am old and move slowly!

I have a Hurst 1/4 stick but made my floor bracket from a piece of channel iron about 2" wide and 1/2" tall, maybe 1/8" thick. (My local Home Depot sells lengths of it. Drilled it to match the shifter mounting pattern and bolted it together with short 1/4" bolts.Nuts were then welded underneath to stay in place when shifter is removed. Then the channel piece was welded to the floor/tunnel in a comfortable location.
