I thought you guys did. I remember years ago we got wacked in the final at Super Chevy by you guys at Indy. I was so impressed with his driving a stick so well. Neat car.

Yeah I remember that day for sure. I think back in 2003, Black 67 or 68 Camaro. What a day that was.We have it on tape and watch it still today.
How you guys doing? You can check out Todd's car on faceback under Vince Tosto.
We will remember that day as long as we live. What a race.

That was an awesome weekend for sure , small world isn't it . I remember there was 198 cars in that class that weekend, don't see that anymore hardly ever . Super Chevys aren't as big as they used to be.

Got alot done on the gold car this Saturday , gears all set up , coil springs in ( wasn't as bad as I had remembered lol) got my new front wheels mounted up. Next weekend all brakes go on front and rear , rear end gets bolted down , and all steering will be installed.

And no more heads up with my brother not with that motor in his car anyway lol. It's gonna be a beast to drive !!!

Got all the brakes on, steering, rear end bolted in, front spoiler, and rear shocks. Was hoping my rear wheels would have came in but, it sounds like a couple more weeks. Waiting on the bead lock rings.

This weekend hope to get the front shocks on, motor mounts in, and some brake lines on.

Where did you get that carbon fiber roll bar padding? :p Seriously, car looks fantastic! :)

TOSTO RACING 02-28-2015 09:44 PM

Re: 1967 camaro A/S project

Re: 1967 camaro A/S project

I like the look of the carbon fiber roll bar protector bit I'm not sure if it meets the rule book specifications for padding. It reads: Adequate padding must have minimum1/4-inch compression or meet SFI Spec 45.1. I don't see how carbon fiber can be used as a padding as it doesn't compress. The Bickle site doesn't say this protector meets the SFI spec. I can see using it on the side bar to protect from scratches, but not in the head area as it offers no protection. Do you plan to use a different padding for the head area? Am I missing something here?

Danny, You only need padding on the roll bar if your helmet is 6 inches from contacting the roll bar only.We have 45.1 in that area of contact. Type of padding depends on ET. The carbon fiber used is not 6 inches from helmet. Hope this helps. It is in the rule book too.

Thanks Tim. After looking closer I see your 45.1 in the head area. Good luck this season and I'm enjoying following your build. Regards, Danny

Nice Build. Question, are you using stock rubber bushings in your front upper control arms?
I have solid bushings in my Impala, used solids in bottom too. Am I too "old school"

Will Lamprecht 1965 Impala I/SA in progress.

Hey Danny that's actually my dad Vince. The carbon fiber is just for looks and to help with scratches usually guys just do a little piece , but I went ahead and did the whole bar and thought it looked good .

Thanks Tim

Yeh just the stock bushings upper and lowers and the teeth ground off . Front end will be loose as a goose :) I was gonna buy the high dollar stuff but my uncle set up these and we decided no need to spend the extra bucks when it'll be just as loose with the stockers and some tricks.

I am feeling a lot better still be awhile before I can turn some wrenches , but my new wheels came in for the rear so I had to talk my buddy Garret into mounting them and my Dad to put them on this weekend (thanks guys)I had to see them on the car!
I also have to say Sander engineering makes an awesome product they even polished the inside of the wheels and anodized the centers and Beadlock rings and machined them just like I asked and they look awesome!

The car is really turning out nice and I can't wait to set the motor in it and get it running!

I really like the crossmember cut out and rebuild with the round tubing. Very nice work. My question is that legal on a stock eliminator car?

I also asked. Yes, it is in the book under Stock Eliminator "Oil Pan"! 10A page 5.

Real nice work!
