Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
looks real good George. Where can I get a set of those spiffy Ford fender covers? One thing that was handy on the Holley EFI I used was that it hooked up to the stock temp sending unit.

More progress on the CobraJet. Hooked up the laptop to the BigStuff ECU and started the engine today so I could check the cam crank advance number. My Browell bellhousing is ready to go in so hopefully I can get it in early this week and finish up a few details by next weekend.

I found a new carpet that did not have any cut outs in it. I then cut holes for the removable shifter covers. http://9500rpm.com/GWCJ/gwcj120.jpg I fabricated a throttle cable bracket since I am no longer using the drive by wire. http://9500rpm.com/GWCJ/gwcj122.jpg I fabricated a small aluminium bracket to hold the BigStuff air intake temperature sensor right above the throttle body opening. http://9500rpm.com/GWCJ/gwcj126.jpg Here is the bracket to hold the electric water pump drive motor. http://9500rpm.com/GWCJ/gwcj125.jpg From here you can see the Moroso pcv filter and the electric water pump drive motor. Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
More progress. The Jerico and Long shifter are now in. The car was scaled. It weighs 3010 pounds with me in it (no weigh box). The pinion angle was set. The pre-load was set using the anti roll bar. Tomorrow I will check and set the front end alignment. Still need to carpet the rear seat area, but that wont stop me from testing the car. Hope to test it this coming weekend.

Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
Looks great George. I do like the blue. I've had a question ever since I saw this was going to be a manual trans. I know you are using a 4 speed but did Ford "offer" a 5 speed version also?

Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
Went out testing at Milan on Friday night.
First run was first and second gear only. Shifter hung up on 2-3 shift. Spun the tires. On the second run I managed to get it in third gear but the shifter hung up going into fourth. I coasted thru the eighth mile with a 6.50 @ 104MPH. Sixty foot was 1.37. I determined that the removable shifter cover was binding against the 3-4 lever on the Jerico. After my second run I headed back to the shop. Besides reworking the removable floor panel I also want to adjust the seat position back a bit, leak down, change plugs and look over my data logs. I hope to go out again next weekend if the weather holds out. Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
Wow. When you get the shifter worked out it is going to be very quick.

Re: FS/H CobraJet Body In White Project
Made some adjustments to my CJ this week. Moved the seat back, adjusted the shifter, reworked the shifter cover that was rubbing the 3-4 shifter rod and put a Boss 302 alternator on the engine. The other alternator I had on the engine did not line up correctly with the balancer and resulted in the belt getting destroyed.
I went out to Milan this evening and made one pass. I was able to shift all 4 gears and get down the track. Right now the CJ is on FS/G weight. I went 10.20 at 132 MPH. The track was cold so I spun the tires and went 1.45 in sixty foot. Here is an in car video of the run. |
