Re: Super Gas Burndown
Mr Novas and others...
For the record and so no one thinks I am hiding behind a fictious name (for those of you that don't know) I am Ryan Koener S/G and T/S 310C. I happen to think that this is the perfect place to discuss weather or not we like Ed's staging practices. That is what these boards are for are they not? I for one think that anyone who plays games on the starting line is a dirty piece of crap (cleaned up for the board). If you have to play dirty to win than you should just stay home. I have not personally race him (I don't think), but from what I have read on this site he is a poor sportsman! Can't we all just race like we are supposed to? |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
990 Novas..............I'm in Ed Olpin's corner on this deal!!!!!!!!!! I'm absolutely certain that Jim Hughes and Rock Haas have their own "bag of tricks" to draw from and I am as equally as certain their respective posse's follow their lead........the ole "monkey see, monkey do" theory in full force!!!!!!
Just found it intersting that Mr. Haas, who didn't have a dog in the fight other than my "ORIGINAL" vacuum theory, found it necessary to out Ed Olpin like he did...............must be that "roast" thing. Point being, It could have been Bozo the Clown instead of Ed Olpin and the results would have still been the same. But, as you can see, the "rockettes" are coming out of the woodwork and I have become a "nuthugger" in the matter of a few short hours. Just hope I don't find myself being drug off to a "woodshed" by a "mafia type" anytime soon!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it'll be an intersting off season!!!!!!!!!!!! Ed Olpin................don't change a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
Gary - You are correct. Nothing nasty, we are now buddies and park together at most of the races. Just having some fun ... after all, it's just a car race.

Re: Super Gas Burndown
I know there are a few people throughout the whole country who stage like Ed (light two bulbs at once) I've seen it time & again. My point is, is that I don't think Ed's intentions are "Dirty" as he stages the same with everyone, and everyone out in Div. 7 knows that. I haven't seen anyone over in his pit (atleast that I can recall) cussing him out and wanting to take him behind the "wood shed". For myself, it doesn't bother me what he does, I do my own deal. I personally feel that Ed doesn't owe me or anyone on this board any explanation for his actions on how he stages. If I did have a problem I would most certainly take it up with him as opposed to posting it on a message board. It sure seems like everyone in D-3 is heated about it though. Maybe you guys that are concerned can arrange a face-to-face meeting with Ed when he comes back to Chicago for the All-Stars race. That way you can tell him yourselves about your concerns. Then you'd show "CaJones" face-to-face. I just find it amusing that you guys get so worked up over a guys racing technique thats 2,000 miles away. Just like that commercial "Just let it go".
So whats everyone's plans for the winter????? -Ventura Motorsports |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
Yea Greg....its probably time to let it go.......I didn't really think it would get everybody so worked up......you have to remember though we had some questionable practices go on out here a while back....so thats why everybody is piling on....and this Webster character....is pretty funny....I don't know Ed well enough to know if he will respond....but it certainly would be a good way to end this thread....maybe he just has bad brakes....

Re: Super Gas Burndown
Just took exception to the questionable, unsportsmanlike conduct of a multi-National/Divisional champion calling out a guy on an open forum that I don't recall ever being a regular to the rhetoric on this site.
My bad though.............the people specific to this site have apparently NEVER played "games" at the starting line, or any place else at the track for that matter!!!!! Whos' kidding who?????? IMO this Haas "character" owes Ed Olpin an apology!!!!!!!!!! Act like the champion you are!!!!!!!!! I'm done..................... Brian Webster S/ST 3557 |

Re: Super Gas Burndown
I thought the burndown thing was a lot better than complaining about diapers....or whatever...Ed just happened to be the subject....

Re: Super Gas Burndown
I don't think Ed's staging practices are dirty or illegal....just annoying....which is probably why he does it....it seems to work for him....
Lets move on.... |

Re: Super Gas Burndown
FAKE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just thought I was done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rolled into one just to stink up the show..................lucked out and REALLY stunk it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Used to think it was quite the accomplishment............must not be a big deal if you guys are pickin' em off at will!!!!!!!!!! Come to think of it............it wasn't that much fun either..........goin' back to the local bracket deal to get kicked around!!!!!!!!! BTW................I think I might have hung a couple people out at the starting line and used some excessive braking to get the job done. And, I didn't have a diaper on either!!!!!!!!! I think I'm done................ Let the beating begin!!!!!!!!:D |

Re: Super Gas Burndown
I cant believe that anyone that does a side by side (door car) burn-out and won't pull up until 30 seconds after his opponent pre-staged on a regular basis has any friends at all. I don't care if it's a local bracket race or sunday at a national event. That is beyond games and If everyone knows the act, i'm surprised anyone would put up that and stage first. I don't care if I stage first or last, but i'll get thrown out before I stage for anyone that routinely does that.
Bill Krug P.S. I am not part of the D-1 Mafia (I tried to join they said I was too nice of a guy) Jason How is the weather down there?? |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
It might be a good idea to just let it die Rock. I have only been posting on this thread to tell you guys what I know about what went down. Ed stages that way consistantly with everyone. It may annoy some of you guys or however you take it. I don't think its worth the energy to threathen or post something in the line of beating someone up over it...We are grown men (Or atleast we think we are) I didn't intend to offend anyone on this board, if i did I apologize. I just speak my mind thats all, and if I have ever had a problem with anyone I take it up with them directly. That's all!

Re: Super Gas Burndown
THANK YOU ROCK from the bottom of my heart because your thread has awakened the true wack jobs from the past of this site.Ruthless and even Chaser dragged themselves off the couch to weigh in and our new member Webster just has to stay and can help make the winter fly by. Now all we need are the other D3 nut jobs who may have forgotten their passwords to speak up on whatevers got them bugged.
It still hasent gotten weird enough for me! |

Re: Super Gas Burndown
This thread cannot be allowed to die until someone finds a new beehive to swat. For most of us the season is over and post racing season depression is setting in. These racing centered conversations are all we have left. Desperate times call for desperate measures, we must have new material folks. I am not saying you should "RAT" out your best friends worst habits or stupid mistakes (unless you have pictures) yet, but it may come to that.

Re: Super Gas Burndown
Well....here's my 3 cents worth....because I don't think there is enough responses to this just yet...
In my opinion...T-Stop & Bracket racing in general has tightened up a lot in the last several years. I think it's great to try anything legal to one-up the next guy. Whether it's the way you stage...how you work your T-Stop...or how you play the top end. Games are games...how is playing staging games any different than top end games? One might think CBS setting up fast and dumping to a .90 is playing games? Me...I think anything that turn's on the W is great. If someone's going to get upset because I staged weird or because they believe I played games with them....and it would 'cause them to not want to be friends with me...I'm not sure they need to be a friend of mine anyway. You should never let what happens on the track affect what happens in the pits after a race. I know some of us are not real good at that...but it's true. If we all want to be friends...let say you have to pre-stage in a certain amount of time, stage in a certain amount after that, we all have to have the same engine and car to make performace close, throttle stops have to be turned on and off in certain parameters, and you're not allowed to lift or dump at the end. Then we can all be friends at the end of a nice sunny day and eat hot dogs together...and maybe some ice cream after that. C'mon...let the games begin...games in the burnout, games during staging, and games all the way down! I'm all for any advantage I can get! Only one person I won't play games with..and that's my wife...I have to live with her all week! Enjoy the winter...and take some time to create new tricks and games! Re: Super Gas Burndown
Scotty. Conrats on a great season!
I have been setting back reading all of this trying to decide on how I personaly feel about it. Myself, I play no games, I have screwed up a few times and double bulbed someone, but I always apologized to my opponent afterwards because I felt like a rookie, (usually I lost anyway). But that is just me. I have to agree with you about the whole deal, The pros try everything the can to get any kind of a slight edge, sometimes it works for you and sometimes not. The bottom line..( not to sound like Force). I will do my deal, if you beat me with a staging tactic that throws me off, then, you win, I loose. Its going to be a long winter, Things could be worse... Everyone please keep Linn Bebout and his family in your hearts, Tony |

Hey guys - thought it was the "East Coast Mafia".
Billy - all you have to do is add an "O" to your last name. Instant Italian!! Rock - hope this is just the beginning of posts for the winter season. Seems like everyone will be warm with their blood boiling!! |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
Its nice to see the East coast chime in........
I told you there was a mafia....I just didn't know how many.... Look like we have a nice split on the staging tatics.... The double bulb thing doesn't bother me....the waiting 30 seconds to a minute after 1 top is on bothers me...but I like ED...the woodshed is a restaurant... now what about the NJ mafia..... |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
The staging method has to be annoying if you're seeing it for the 1st time, after that I would file it away and have some fun with it the next time. Nothing like lining up with a stranger in a dif. div. In your home div, you see the same people all the time.
Gary |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
You New York maffia guys need to get out on the road ( more then 100 miles ). Then you can see other people.
Come on ... wear your tires out dont let them be just weather checked.lol |

Ok Time for the Chicago Mob to check in!
Welcome to Chicago where the weak are killed and eatin!!!!!! Everybody Duck!!!!!!!!!! *********************** I was talking to Cyrus about this and i came up with this, If i am prestaged and waiting on this guy for 30 - 60 seconds to get in. When he gets his wheel to my fender i am backing out. Maybe he will double bulb when i have no lights on..... I think they call that a foul. Hahhaahah If that don't work i will have to put him into the wall... I know a good bodyman and painter. Baby Cakes is 4 years old and needs some new colors. All kidding aside lets just line up and lets see who is the better driver, tuner and racer is. You wanna play games, Micky D's has a playland go there. Like Tony Hall says "Lets race and see what happens" As for "WACKIN SOMEONE" that stuff doesn't happen any more???? or does it. Come to the Southside and lets play!! That is what my Fat *** thinks. |
Re: Super Gas Burndown
Is there anybody in Division 3 that has a staging issue?
I can't think of anybody.......(in s/g and s/c anyway) everybody pretty much does the courtesy stage thing....I think.... Lets hear it....what about the other divisions... |

Re: Super Gas Burndown
Well Rock, you finally got this "Wack Job" off the couch. Man, you have been taking some good hits over this one. Who is this Webster character? Mr. Ed's little guru, the go see who I have next on the ladder guy, get to the races two days early and save me a parking spot guy and the go get me something cold to drink guy. Maybe Ed's starting line theory is to put his opponent to sleep and that is what his advantage is. I think the only reason nobody in his division complains about his staging practice is because no one has the balls to confront him. Now if he took all that time to stage because he is praying to God, Allah or whoever else, it might be a different story, but I doubt it. Now if I was one the guys in his division that have no balls to confront him, I would buy a 12-volt air horn at Pep Boys for $20 and mount that under my hood and as he takes his time to stage I would blow the horn for 20 seconds and break the concentration of anyone who is on the starting line. That would get everybodys attention and maybe the division director would address the issue.
Rock, it seems like you have apologized to this "Webster" in a number of ways. He doesn't need an apology or an explanation nor does Mr. Ed...........Wilburrrrrrrrrrrrr. You spoke your peace but because your a Republican you do owe us Democrats an apology because you can't wait for a gallon of gas to get to $5/gallon so you, Bush and Cheyney can celebrate. Jason O......I tried but that is all I can type. Asta |
