Original dash was cracked pretty bad so I got tommy to fiberglass it up and work his magic then I primed and used truck bed spray can on it. The racepack dash fits in the original pretty well.
Made both door panels and added a small compartment to each for air gauge and such

Looks awesome! and clearly unique. Another toplees car in S/ST. Love it. My new S/St rig is a big longer at 130" wheelbase

I had to clean up under the hood area, a real mess, so I decided to sandblast it. Of course i warped the thin sheet metal like aluminum foil. Oh well, glad the scoop is as big as it is. Just more bondo…

Thanks
I’m just glad it was a small car!!!
Every single panel had issues not from just what I did with it, but the way the car had been over the years. I counted seven layers of paint, I took everything down to bare metal and started over.

LoL,
I was watching the Spring Fling on YouTube on my TV and Attention in The Pits came on. It's set on autoplay and watching you & Joe as I type!

The stereo in this one is a little upgraded also...
Joe likes the different stuff so hopefully he will add this car to the attention in the pits also

You aren't afraid of work. I guess eating and sleeping are overrated? Gonna be a cool car.

Re: S/ST-S/G Alfa Romeo Spider Roadster

Yeah I have been at it hard for 2 years. Nice to see it done, can’t wait to drive it this weekend. I put wheelie bars on and did the front end alignment yesterday, gonna weigh it today, just a few more little details to finish off. Then the Porsche comes back in to repaint. Last year I was in such a hurry to replace and fix the damage from the wreck I squared the panels off and the paint didn’t match. It’s driving me crazy.

And such a small difference that only a painter would notice or someone with OCD....lol.

Re: S/ST-S/G Alfa Romeo Spider Roadster

I just got back from weighing the car looks like I built it plenty heavy! sort of surprising. Actually,
I will double check the weight again at Atco. Anyhow, I noticed the transmission seem to be slipping a lot in reverse, by the time I got home and went to unload the car I noticed the transmission is really having problems. so back up on the lift to change that out.

So i decided to paint the underside of the hood before replacing. So now you can see the color I chose it’s a carbon metallic and boy it has some huge flakes. Had to finish up the deck lid, mirror, spoiler and other parts.

Re: S/ST-S/G Alfa Romeo Spider Roadster

Just finished putting the spare transmission in. All seems good to go, cleaned it all up, threw in all the new safety equipment and loaded it in the trailer, can’t wait to finally get to drive it more than just back and forth in the shop. Hopefully it goes straight and safely.
Gotta load some more pics to catch up to this point

Finished priming the spoilers and deck lid, painting the mirrors and the base black for the rear marble base.
If you look at the last picture, i like to take black candy and clear all the lenses for a smoke look. They really look good against the metallic color. All lights will be operational

While I was waiting for some things to dry I mounted the onboard air compressor, and re-painted the quadrafollio (cloverleaf) emblem. This was a special edition Alfa so I thought it should go back on

Ok these were the last steps before painting, a final 400 and scuff pad all over sand. About a 2 hour cleanup of the shop. Then another wash down and tape off then the black sealer.

Great idea! Insulating the shop with all those big checks.😉

Didn't see anything happening while driving thru the pits. Raining
Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow.

You gotta stop by. Got here just before the heavy rain hit so I got to drive around a couple miles around the pits. Everything seems good. I was able to set the rpm on the stop and was also able to check the alignment. Everything seems great so far can’t wait till tomorrow. Final paint pics coming up tomorrow

Well most should see it this weekend so here comes the final stages of the build
Laying on the color, this is a single stage paint so after spraying I wait overnight to tape up the stripes and finish with clear coat before the 18 hour recoat time.

Just dropped Dad off at the track as I had to work today and he’s going to work on the car to figure out what is wrong with it. Hopefully get a chance to see the car tonight or tomorrow as it was still in the trailer. Looks good so far, kind of reminds me a little of Siepels car out in D7 (I know differ t type of car).

Car seems to be working very well. I was quite surprised with the weight which came out to 2912 with me in it.

Great debut. Seems like the Turners in Div III have a similar car? Haven't seen it in a while.

Every one except those running super street lmao.
I was awarded with the best engineered award!
Biggest compliment I got was someone thought it was a suncoast car
Not bad for some rednecks with a plan.

Summary from the first outing
We were really unsure of the true weight, I had tried a truck scale and it came up to 2900#s even. I really couldn’t believe that. I built it heavy but gezzz, so Friday morning I went to the scale and they said it wasn’t quite right (water issues). Said i could get a close estimate so I drove on and They said it was flopping from 25-2600#s. Now I felt a little better but still not sure as how much weight to put in. My friend Richard preiser had brought his scales for his stocker and asked if I wanted to use them. Well surprise it was 2912 Oh my! 51% front corner weights were real close so no adjustments were made to the suspension. Car goes dead straight and with the windshield i don’t feel any difference from the other car except the visibility and fun factor!
We made it to the quarter finals loosing by .003.
I do have a list of things to change, re-arrange or flat out fix, but without having to turn a single bar or shock adjustment I was very happy.
So now the plan is to put the aluminum motor from the Porsche in and swap this back, that will bring the weight down to the minimum and settle the Porsche down a bit too. This car did go 10.88@153 with the steel engine so it should be fine at 158 or so.
I have 2 weeks to get these swapped and all fixed up.
I really had a blast and have to thank Scott Sapp (shaggy) my friend and crew for all his help. It was funny how we all fall into a routine and with the new car it seems every thing was totally different.
