On my 88 Mustang it isn't for anything. Just a threaded hole that goes nowhere.

Thanks Mitch...upon further inspection it is indeed a blind hole, so I can put it out of mind now. :)

Looks like I have a choice of 2.82 or 2.90 gearset in a C4. What would be preferred in this car at nearly 3400 pounds w/driver?

I think the blind hole is for a knock sensor, not sure what year it's used. Mine is a 95 and doesn't have it. At one time I thought the sensor could be used to watch detonation closely to control ignition advance, but I bailed on that.

2.92 low and 5.14 rear gear with 29.5" tires..................it's magic.

A 26" tire has a rather small footprint. Kinda livin' on the edge there Rich..........
A very little spin is a bunch of et in a slow car. Hope it works for you.
