Here is a shot of the 1981 Spring Nationals finals of SG, both my father and Kurt Neighbours had Lenco and if you look close Dad already had the top bulb out. We won the event.

Brian G. had it right......the horse and buggy would be fun to tow with too....why would you want to have it lay over in high gear.....when you can have it throw you on the decklid....put down the ax and get the chainsaw......

I agree that it would be very hard to go back, so it just ain't going to happen. I can think of four good reasons that we should have not gone to timed throttle stops in the first place:
1. Safety
2. Cost
3. Spectator appeal
4. Fun factor (probably the most important).

I'm staying with the Adjusta-flow! Give me another 25 years and I'll have enough experience with it to make it work.

So right Ed!
The spectators I've spoken to (in person and on my blogs online) nearly all prefer the "old" way.
It's a lot more fun to go to a drag race when you can imagine yourself driving one of those cars. Now days the average spectator is overwhelmed by the cost & technology.

Sadly, we are seeing a decline in the new faces coming into our sport as well.
I have especially noticed there are very few new youngsters in the super classes.

No new faces is a death sentence for any sport.....:(

Maybe prostock should go back to small blocks and top fuel to lencos. I don't like baseball so I don't watch it...its boring. Think they'll change the game because I change the channel. Times change. We have throttle stops ,baseball has steroids. Still boring game.

Funny that you bring that up.Pro stock was more fun to watch, and more innovative back in the 70s.

Wow, Tell me I'm not reading this right? So, you're comparing steroids to throttle stops? Steroids are illegal performance enhancement and a criminal offense.
