This one was originally a 1970 Hemi Superbird that was parked in a woman's back yard for awhile then one day it was gone...

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.

Here's an older story I found about a local "cow pasture" lot that processed over 30,000 Katrina cars.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/01/au...anted=all&_r=0

I saw 18 wheelers loaded with cars and trucks headed up U.S.49 for months.
A lot of the cars then looked like they just took them from your driveway and loaded them up.
Should have crushed them all. Can't help but wonder how many "used" parts were sold off the Katrina vehicles.

Some submerged. Some float.

Anyway...back to the topic.

New discoveries anyone?

Great Great car 68 Rcodeman!!!!. I assume this is yours??? A good friend of mine has owned one since I believe 1970. Still wears it's original paint/interior, & to this day it sees the 1320 at least 20 times every season. Runs strong for a street driven "stocker".He pedals it to keep it over 11.50's cause he refuses to bar it. Altho he runs it with Weld wheels he still has the original Keystones he purchased it with. No, they're not for sale,& they are beautifull. I've tried several times.
Sooooo- what's hiding under the other cover??

Liteweight, Thanks. Yes a real barn find. Russ Davis Ford delivered. Raced by Phil Glass in West Covina. Found in a yard four years ago with thirty other cars including a 70 Boss Nine. I recieved the car and washed it . Detailed the original paint and built a new motor for it. 321 actual miles. Returned to Bakersfield where it was raced at the March Fuel Gas Championship 1969. Has a sticker on the windshield from Tech that still looks new. Also a Valvoline Race Oil sticker on the oil pan that says 1969 Spring Nationals participant ..Please etll me your friends name? I would love to chat cars.
Thanks David in FL.

This '65 Plymouth Belvedere was restored at Bob Mosher's place in Southern California...then someone stole it and took it out for a joyride and destroyed it.

Lightweight, I seem to recall you are from Manitoba, correct? If so, you must be refering to a blue 68 1/2 CJ Mustang owned by Don F? If so, I met Don at our local Ford race at Mission Raceway, and he ran what I believe was his first 10 second pass (sans roll bar!) Quite the guy!

Hi Rory
Correct, I am from Manitoba. Also correct on the CJ & owner. I've known Don since the early 80's. We met one day when I drove by his house with my 70 hemi cuda. I quess he was outside when I rolled by, saw/heard it & jumped into his car & followed me home. We've had a few street bashes over the years both in town & deserted highways. Next time you see him, ask him bout the time he didn't see a cop at an intersection previous to one of our street bashes. I tried to get his attention, but Don was too busy looking at the lights waiting for the green. In total disbelief, I watched as he proceeds to launch the car right in front of the cops. He made it into 2nd before the cherries came on. I still remember the look on his face as I idled by. He was actually able to talk himself out of any tickets. Yup, quite the guy.
