I would also change to a much smaller crank pulley.

What effect would that have on charging Tony? I'll be using a stock alternator for the time being.

Slowing down the alternator will affect charging, but it's a race car right? Lol. That's what battery chargers are for. Seriously, back when I had my N/A NMRA Pure Street car, we picked up some hp on the dyno, and a little et with nothing but a lower pulley change. (very small, about 3-4 inches or so in diameter.) Here is a pic of the engine after it came out of the car, before I converted it to EFI. You can see how small the pulley is.

I still have this complete charging setup sitting on the shelf with intentions of using it on the Stocker when I get back too it.

Who makes that crank trigger arm?

Love the crank trigger and ignition setup. Has this motor ever been fired? Talk about clean...

Rich: I spent the extra bucks for a clockable Moroso water pump and was able to rotate the outlet out of the way. on mine it blocked the view of the timing pointer.

Thanks Tony...I will look into some pulleys then. I can see it is a very small diameter because it bolts on from the outside instead of the inside of the pulley. With this alternator bracket it will be a very short belt.

Dale - My timing pointer is at the 10 o'clock position. The clockable feature would have eliminated the dampner interference tho.

To SSGT. That was a Reichard Racing crank trigger set up. My understanding is that they no longer do automotive pieces after getting a large military contract. Not 100% certain on that.

Firesale, the engine had about 40 passes and several dyno pulls on it when that pic was made. Plus had been blown up once, (broken rod)

Rich, it will be a short belt with the low mount alternator you have, lol.

Rich, here you go. May can find it on Ebay or somewhere else for less.

Re: Ford vs Chevy Build-up

I need to correct myself. My pointer is a 10 o"clock install, too. The original outlet jammed the alternator and the second option blocked the pointer view. I did origami with the water hose to get things right. My mistake was to get a radiator with an inlet on the same side as the pointer. First time builder here...

Dale - I've made numerous mistakes with this build being Ford ignorant lol. :o
