Took care of my hood louver 'problem' by having these decals made at local place that does vinyl wraps:

I thought this might be a good time for an end of season update.

Midway through the season, I made the decision to change from the Powerglide to a Metric 200. Thanks to Jim Marshall and Billy Lynn for all their help and assistance with this. :)
There were a couple of glitches, one of which was a nasty leak out of the tail shaft seal. As it turns out, the drive shaft yoke had been machined to work with a different tail shaft bushing, thus the leak. A new yoke and a drive shaft rebalance and we were good to go.

The car ended up going a best of .71 under the NHRA index in G/SA at the test and tune session at the Oahe National Open in Pierre, S.D. We had some mechanical gremlins to deal with through the season...a broken starter at Oahe ended up thrashing the flexplate as well. Thanks to Steve Koppien's spare parts stash and my brother Kevin's assistance, we were able to fix it Saturday afternoon. At Kearney's National Open, I went to start the car in the staging lanes for the third round of the Stock/Super Stock combo and a broken cable strap let the battery cable short out against the header tube......arrrrggghhh. :(

But all in all, not a bad season. :)

At .71 under you have that Nova working pretty good Alan...great work! That's a massive brace on that metric. :)

Won't work for me this season, Charlie. :( Several of our locals are headed to Phoenix and Pomona, though.

An simple rear shock change turned into a three week project. ;) I wanted to change one thing a little so that meant another thing needed to be redone. This led to that...blah, blah, blah. You guys know the drill, right? :) Anyway, the rear is back together with new spring bushings, shackles, hard brake line from the master cylinder on back, stainless lines to the wheel cylinders, stainless rear flex line, wheel studs, rear bearing seals and rear brake shoes.

And the new rear shocks that started all this! :)

I hear 'ya. :)

Just wanted to add: if anyone needs to replace their steel brake hard lines, the new NiCopp nickel/copper stuff is amazing to work with. It bends like copper tubing but won't kink as easily. You can do 90 degree bends with no kinks just using your thumbs to support the line.

Busy, busy, busy at the Koppien shop. :)

Mike Koppien's green '69 Camaro SS/EA has been out once and is ready to go. Steve Koppien's white '69 has a new ZL-1 in it for AA/SA. Kelly Petterson's '68 Chevelle C/SA has a fresh Steve Koppien 396/375 between the fenders. My Nova has been out once, showed both promise and problems, came apart and is going back together now.

Things are going to get noisy this week. :)

Larry, Steve still has his 427 COPO '69 Camaro. He tells me my 327 might make a good starter for a big block. ;)

Finished the 2016 season in pretty good shape. Had a few hiccups to sort out with the new block but all worked out in the end. A couple of convertor changes gave the consistency that was lacking and we went to the semi's at the Kearney, Ne. Div 5 National Open in October.

Thought I'd add an end-of-season update as to where we're at with the car.

A mid season converter change helped. We picked away at some other small things and also found some improvement. As it sits now, the car is a solid .80-.85 under in decent conditions (no altitude correction) in this part of the country. A good barometer here is 28.8 (uncorrected) so I'm pretty pleased, all in all.

Where I go from here with it, I'm not sure..but it's been fun! :)

Excellent work! Looks great! Theres quite a performance advantage going from that 28.8 to a 29.5 baro. Its nice when it all comes together.

Time to put a stick in it. LOL. A third pedal conversion would give you a whole new thrill.

Bruce, I seriously considered that a year ago. The 327-275's really come alive with a stick. :)

We're gettin' after it for next season, already. -Al
