Can anyone explain Judy's car, since it's not a hardtop?

I'll give it the 'old college try'.
Judy's car (1967 Belvedere I sedan post-car) was purchased in December 1966.
It went through 'Fry Plymouth' out of Colorado
It was as it is in the photo, a 1967 Belvedere I sedan (post-car), Street-Hemi, 4-speed.
The R/O Belvedere II (hardtop) cars didn't get built until February.
Though the car was not an R/O, it was a pretty much a 'delete everything' car.
The car came through with a flat-hood, and at first was in A/Stock, then into SS/B with a flat-hood (non-R/O hood).
Eventually a correct R/O hood scoop was added.
It was somewhat of a Mopar Test Car (pre-cursor for the R/O program).
It was factory-backed, so technically it was the only non-hardtop 1967 Hemi in partial R/O trim.

Here's one,
1967 Winternationals,
Sox & Martin ran in SS/B with a 67' GTX (Street Hemi) non R/O car with a flat hood.
That car also was at Aquasco in April 1967. Again, it could have
been a Belvedere II or Satellite car, but lettered with GTX on the
rear quarter-panel. The hood is flat, and does not have the long/narrow
faux-hood scoops (standard item on the 67' GTX).

Sounds plausible; thanks for explaining. Chrysler, I think, should've offered the RO & WO23 package in both hardtop and sedans.

Hmmm....I'll have to dig through my vintage magazine collection 'cause I don't recall ever seeing a pic of Ronnie's '67 car with a non-performance hood on it!

You'll see the 67' Sox & Martin Hemi (non-R/O car)
on jerestahl photo's versus Jere Stahl.
Aquasco April 1967. Jere is running his 67' R/O, and
Sox & Martin's car is a Hemi, and lettered with GTX, but no hood scoop.
'The Boss' is lettered on the front fender.
????
I'm wondering, I bet they had the 440 GTX SS/E car, and a
Street-Hemi Belvedere II SS/B car for early 1967, before the
67' R/O came into play in May.

I''ll check that out.
It seems correct. The 1967 Hemi Coronet that Dick Landy ran in
1967 was a Hemi Coronet R/T 4-speed that ran in SS/B.
After the R/O and W/O cars were made legal by NHRA, he added the
correct W/O hood scoop.
Tha blue/green car with the white top and white interior was not a
W/O car.
I believe after the 67' season, and starting in 1968, the car was
campaigned as a SS/DA car.

All Plymouth R/O and Dodge W/O 1967 (Super/Stock Package)
cars came through white, with black interiors and bench seats.
They did not go into production until late February 1967.
If Sox & Martin and Dick Landy were running SS/B cars at the
1967 AHRA and NHRA Winternationals, than in all likely hood,
Sox & Martin may have had a GTX Hemi 4-speed, and
Dick Landy had an R/T Hemi 4-speed. No hood scoops
or Vanke intakes on the GTX and/or R/T Street Hemi cars,
at least not from the factory.
As for the SS/E class, Sox & Martin did have a 67' 440 GTX, and
Dick Landy did have a 67' 440 R/T that ran in B/SA.
As for performance, the S & M, 440 GTX SS/E car hit 11.95's and
Landy's, 440 R/T B/SA hit 12.35's.
Both very good times fo January 1967.
And yes, the Centolanza Bros. had a 67' 440 GTX in SS/EA, before the Hemi car. It ran 12.30's.

Paul, we restored the Sox & Martin 67 GTX as you see it today. SS/B 835. Yes, 'The Boss' was lettered on the front fenders and it did have have a hood scoop.

Beautiful restoration.
What is the story with those cars.
An R/O with GTX badging on the quarter.
And the early 67' picture at Aquasco, no hood scoop.
Just how many ran through their shop?????????
Really doesn't matter, they were all nice.

Paul, We've restored a few of the old iron Mopar race cars. The 67 GTX of Sox & Martin, Lilly's 76 Volari, one of Landy's 68 4 speed Dart's and most of the time we never get a story behind the car or even the current owners name. Its just a pleasure to work on a piece of history.
