He had it sitting in his back yard, I don't know wher he got it, but had it for a few yrs. He and Greg put it togather and won Indy with it. Don't remember when either '70 or 71. Greg worked as a dyno op. with Walt for Chrysler. Walt, a good friend of mine, is in his upper 70's was a origional member of The Golden Cammandos. If any know where Walt got this Dodge, (an origional 990 ) feel free to add to this.

Charley A,,,,,,,,

Yes, I see what you mean,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The track-width does look narrower than normal,,,,,,,,,

Also, some of those Mopar guys toyed with staggered front-ends too,
to gain an inch or two.

Or possibly, Butch is using the 'zero off-set' Torq-Thrust wheels from the AWB car on his Super/Stocker,
which make it appear to be narrow.

Tom Kasch photo.

I remember it had a front license plate that said " Greg Who?" I think it was after he won Indy.

Re: A990 Super Stockers

Moose : The brown 65 Ply belong to Glenn Gruber and Jim Kasse out of St. Paul, Mn. about 100 mi. North of me. They had an alum. 63 Ply 425 H. P. in the late 60's - early 70's. I think the heald a couple of records with it. When they had this car, which was very nice they had a Mancini eng. built and something was wrong. It just didn't run. They hauled it down to the Chrysler Racing Seminar at the Thunder Bird Motel and I saw them sell it to John Wilson, he was from Anthon, Iowa. Alex P. speeks of John. This is the second 65 Ply John owned. It is the same car in the picture between Judy Lilliy and Bob Marshell. I don't have any pictures on Charnies Dodge, I am not much of a picture guy, I don't have too many pics of my own car, but I am still running it.

Hope this Helps

I was at that seminar too and distinctly remember that car on the trailer in the parking lot. Can't remember what year that was but I had to be only 10 or 11 at the time. I still have cassette tapes from that seminar(I guess that was my job at the seminar so my dad would let me go). The brown car is still around and has been for sale in Hemmings a few times the last few years. Painted Blue now. Originally out of Colorado.

Thanks for the memory Ray.

Some suspension tricks performed on the 'Black Arrow' by
Bill Jenkins and Mechanics; Tony Pizzi, Joe Tryson and Al Joniec.

Reversing the front hanger supports, and hardened shims.
