And now for the Audience participation question. Does anybody remember these guys?

The guy on the right looks like Tim Diamond. Ran a V6 modified car with Donnie Beeler.

Short story about Tim Diamond.
I met Tim in 1989 when he was in Denver visiting with a shop here that was working on Buick V6 comp motors. Tim also was involved with a V6 car driven by Donnie Beeler in super stock.
At the time I was driving a 69 nova big block SS/BM car owned by Steve Berlau. We always struggled to run the index. We had the motor at this shop the week before the mile high nats. and Tim was checking out what we had. He offered some advice and offered to assemble the motor. I can not remember all he changed other than different rings but everything else was still the same parts. I put the motor in the car the day before the race. Tim suggested some simple tune up changes and different oil and I took his advice.
The first run the car ran .20 under the index! We were amazed, the car had picked up a solid 2-3 tenths.
End of story- I went on to win the race. Never would have happened without his help.

Did anyone get to have any serious discussions with NHRA officials? I saw Dave Ley and he was pleasant. I checked the booth a couple of times on Friday and no one else of rank in tech was present at the time...

I did talk to Bruce Bachelder for a few minutes, he was helpful in finding a rule that was changed a while back. He was there several times answering questions.

Well here sitting in my chair at home the day after I got home from Indy. First off I have to say, what an amazing experience it was to be an attendee at this event. The City of Indianapolis sure knows how to pull off an event of this size. I was blown away with the quality of the displays and the amount of vendors. Getting to meet people I have only talked to by phone or online. I met so many people that have heard of WHEELZ UP RADIO and it really shocked me.
I had the chance to talk to many vendor's about what we have to offer them. Not only as possible Marketing Partners but as guests on the show. I defiantly came away with many new idea's to help us expand our ability to provide great information to the racers. But also to have companies explain what there products have to offer the competitors. in the next week I plan to start contacting Companies and lining up guests for the upcoming 3rd year of WHEELZ UP RADIO. Also coming up after the Holiday Season we will have a special announcement for 2016 with many new Partners joining up with WHEELZ UP RADIO Nation.
I also would be remiss in my job as the big boss if i didn't thank the following Companies for helping make this trip possible.
Markow Race Cars
Dana Hard
East Coast Pro Comp Association
Str8line Performance and Automotive
Porta Tree Timing Systems
Sassy Racing Engines
Maura's Embroidery Unlimited
Thank You to each and every one of you for your support!!

I'm sure number of you veteran racers can appreciate this. At the show I saw lots of fellow racers, and customers - and I could remember the car they raced, how quick they went, who they beat in the third round at Indy 10 years ago, how much power they made on the dyno, but I couldn't begin to remember their names. But it sure was good seeing them all.

I was surprised and excited to see Stahl Headers at the show. I've always wanted a set of Stahl Headers for my Mopar so I stopped by to inquire. I spoke with Greg - the lead fabricator from Stahl - who is operating the "new" Stahl. He said the headers jigs were sold in different lots and a number of different people ended up with them. He has most of the Chevy jigs and continues to build and sell Chevy Headers - but not the 55-57 jigs, Those jigs along with the remaining 55-57 Chevy inventory were sold to a gentleman from Texas who has no plans to start up production. The Mopar jigs were sold sold to a guy in Pennsylvania or Maryland who may be interested in having some headers built. I have a lead to track him down. And Jere's daughter Judy is still involved as a part time sales person.

There's no website for the "new" operation, and for those interested the phone number is 717-232-2800.

Those headers going straight up are the ones we ran on our mud racing trucks in the 80.s. Kits were cheap as the dickens, weld'em up, get them chromed (to make the mud not stick) and bolt'em on. Wildest ride you ever saw.
