It’s alive! fired up the motor for break in and it moves on its own, no more pushing it back in the garage. Typical new car stuff to finish, seats, belts, alignment, change the valve springs and a little more wiring and it will be ready for some TnT runs.

A little start up video request by 427FE. Loading up to take it to alignment shop.
If I can figure out how, I had a link for a short while but it said it expired. (I’m computer challenged, lol)

Took the car to Bakersfield on two weekends. 2 check out passes 11.73 and 11.30 to make sure it went straight, shifted and stopped without overheating. My tires were really old and it was spinning pretty bad and I had some rubbing issues. Purchased smaller tire and took the car back out this weekend. 1st pass the car pushed through the beam for no time. My fault, it was my 1st time using a 2step on the brake pedal. (Previous car was S/G car with tran brake)
Lowered the 2step to 2,800 and was able to get the first full pass on the car. It ran .400 under the B/SA index (I think it's closer to B weight than A as I haven't weighed the car yet) that run was made at 95 degrees and 3,524 altitude density. Next pass was 1st round win as the other guy broke out due to the cooler morning weather. Next pass was a little messed up as we were held up on the line while the previous pair had issues getting off the track and I red lit. I ran it through at 10.76 at mid 80's temp and 2,900 ft.
I haven't touch anything since I got it running so there's room for a fair amount of improvement with tuning and driver education.

That must feel great to see all your hard work yield such positive results so early.

Took the car back out to Bakersfield again to get more experience and be set for the double divisional in Oct. The weather was not as hot but still warm, altitude density about 2200-2500, higher humidity. This time I made 4 tuning changes before heading out (I know one at a time!) mostly timing related and a jet change.
First pass rewarded with a 10.26 @ 128
Second pass (oil down in front of me, lined up bad) up in smoke 2 second 60ft.
Third pass (elimination and another jet change) got distracted bad light, chased but had to give it up. 10.27 @ 117 on a 10.25 dial.
I still left with a smile because of the .500 improvement. Now to search for a little more!

Re: '67 Shelby slow build

First NHRA race in 23yrs, I had a great time even though my driving wasn’t good.
Won 1st round of race one when B. Phillips went red by .003. lost 2nd round to Jerry Stein on a red light and first round of race two I took a nap at the starting line against Michael Wann.
Everyone I met from NHRA and the participants offered encouragement and were very helpful in getting me through from TT to scales and fuel check and showing me the procedures from Q sheets to ladders.
(A little different than the old S/G racing I did)
Sneaking up on the tune, car is running about the same ET it ran before adding weight. The best run was 10.28 with 1.37 60ft. I still need a few more tenths to be more competitive and the driver needs some serious coaching and more practice.
Many Thanks
