THanks Bob! Gettin there slowly... That '62 Grand Prix belongs to Gene Gabbard of Centerville/Richmond area...it runs high 10's ...

Im taking Bird Wednesday eve to do some tuning...havent done any tuning yet...just changed gears twice and put good valvesprings on... same jetting, timing, oil, as i started with. Gonna work with header collectors too...I hope to find some 11.30s, or better...

Well, i havent found much ET yet, but, i did manage to go a few rounds and win the Slick tire class trophy last night...here is a pic of the final...11.58/114.58 best so far...air was crap, i was probably a tad rich...gettin there, slowly...

Dave, i have 160/350# springs on it...crossing the line at 6300, shifting around 5700-5800... I may have been a tad rich, with .044s in the secondaries, so im gonna try some .052s, long tips, with .065 primary jets( same jets ive been running)... i went to .040s , on Wed eve, and slowed down in 60' about .015, it didnt like it...

Got CK's (052) in the back and 66 primary in ours atm Brent. We tried 057's Saturday night, but I think we found the lean point.

mine didnt like the .052s, even as bad as the air was... went back to .044s , to get the 60' feel back...and it did pick up some, and ran 3 11.77s in a row... ran 11.58 on Wed! Air was awful, and head a stiff headwind... only managed 112.48 from almost 115, this past Wed...some of the worst air conditions, that ive seen, at Muncie...

I thought i'd post a side view of my car, sittin in the lanes:) It wasnt extremely fast, but ran 11.54 and 11.53 in qualifying, at 114.76... Went out 1st round, with a -.001 red. Rick Winchester was in the other lane, in an H/SA Camaro, and was dialed about a tenth faster than i was...if i woulda went green, .020-.030, it woulda been a fun race... All in all, i had a great learning experience, met some great people, and finally got to run an NHRA event(1st ever). Lookin forward to Indy in October!
Almost forgot, ended up pulling weight out of the car, and ran E/SA, because, even with the added weight, i was 60lb light, for F... Last time i weighed the car at Norwalk, it weighed 3550, with me... before the 80lb added weight...Apparently, they had a temp calibrate the scales...(this was at an all Pontiac event).

Been following this thread from the beginning, love it. Have a question about your cam & springs. Currently i have about the same seat pressure but less open. Similar RPM is what I'm shooting for. Is yours a conventional style lobe or a dwell lobe ?

My lobes are not 'square' on top... fairly mild grind, but still 251/256 duration... Not sure if i lost some HP, goin to this slightly milder cam... I only ran the other more aggressive cam, one pass, and it was only half track. Thinkin about having it reground, nitrided and coated , and trying it next year...

Yours sounds more like what Bullet recommended for my car. But I went with someone else & I have a square lobe cam. When I get some extra money I want to try the smaller one. Be interested to hear the results if you try the big one. (at least the big one sounds gnarly :D )

Went 5 rounds last night...last 6 cars... ran 11.54/11.55 all day...
had a blast ...1.528-1.538 60fts... left it as it was at Columbus...

Had another good night last night,,, went rounds, down to 3 cars... ran best ET so far 11.506 with 1.525 60ft... took way too much stripe... car picked up .03 out of nowhere...heat in converter, probably... had a great night...made 50$ for my trouble...and didnt have to buy back 1st round...last week, either:) Almost .20 under E car!! hehe

yea, Rich, im having some fun, no doubt... Its not fast, for an E car, but, im gonna have to be satisfied with it, for awhile... Just dont have the funds to race it AND spend money on it... im ok with that...racing it, fast or slow, is the most important thing to me... You will get yours done, and i see some good performance coming your way... you were having some problems...Just glad you didnt implode it, before you tore it dow....

Hey Y'all... been a busy guy lately... got a couple good races in, 5 rounds each, went to Switzerland and France, came back, got some good #'s out of my street '72 Lemans Wagon( 13.82 on the brakes) and working my machine shop job. No racing this weekend( Muncie closed, due to Bracket Finals in Indy). SO , back at it next weekend. Hoping for some 11.40s! Hoping to ring some 11.40s out of the Bird this weekend, but found out Muncie is running some big bucks race, they dont run Sportsman when they do that, so may go to Bunker Hill and try my luck on the 1/8 mile... wanting to beat 7.25/93mph...and win some rounds in the process...hehe
