Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
I like the 2 races in 1 weekend idea too. It seems like it would be tough to get everything done if there was a large car count, but I could be wrong.
Having some kind of discount on entry fees if you enter both races would be nice at those events too :) Ok I just read Rock's last post, I think 2 races 2 days each sounds better |

Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
- Diapers for everyone.
- Lower the indexes, 0.50 is a good start, I'd like 0.90. Take them to even numbers. - No double points races. If you can't make that one weekend for some reason (family obligation, illness, broken parts, whatever) you are completely out of the divisional points chase. That's my $0.02, and worth every cent. :) |
Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
At least in Division 1, Super Street is in no way an entry level class. You have to be on every round and I'm ok with that. Makes winning even better. So my opinion as a Super Street racer is to either keep it the same or re-vamp the class completely. I'm talking making us 100% equal to Super Gas and Super Comp---National Champion, run every national event, equal payout and contingencies (hey, we pay the same entrance), let us run multiple classes, etc. And if you don't want to do ALL of this....DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!!!! Don't pick and choose what you want to do, all or nothing!

2 races one thursday & friday another saturday & sunday. That would make everyone take more days off from work. That would hurt alot of people. We spend more days at the track then the pros. We are sportsman racers, we need to work to support our racing. Everything is good with the indexes. Fast cars will still be fast. Diapers in all classes good idea. Scotty rule could be changed. Run more real racing on Sat. for we can get on the road home and be home at a good time. Work for some and school for the kids. Chuck Siegler 2007 s/g champ. div.3 div. 3 s/g & s/c |
Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
Its really the same amount of days off....just less fuel.....Jay sat in on the meeting...and he didn't think it would be doable....but would look into it....
Just like running more on Saturday....there are issues that you and I don't consider.....like the tech guys and track crew....working 14 hours 2 days in a row.....for what they get paid I'm not sure I would do it.... Rock |
Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
I was standing around in the teardown barn on Friday when the stockers were tearing down.....My partner had to take a piston and rod out of the Roush prepared PB Candies Drag Pak (on its first time out...) and he was the last one in there....and I asked Travis about such a long day he had to work......He said he would rather be doing this than anything else.......He is certainly one of the great guys on the NHRA staff that make this sport so awesome........

Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
Charlie,
Many of the "real" S/ST cars arent capable of running any other class. They would have to spend alot of money to update their cars to run a .370 tree. Even if they won a divisional championship, its still a lot of money out of their pockets to move up to S/G or S/C. again, I said "real" S/St cars. It is hard to police (no pun intended), I agree. |

Re: Sportsman Council phone conference Tonight!
I'm sorry, but Super Street was deemed an entry level class.. but I'm not saying that it isn't a tough class to run, as Kelli has stated.. HOWEVER.. I think that NHRA has become laxed with the class by allowing "HITTERS" to remain in it.. NHRA and SRAC should be looking at keeping the entry level status, possibly by adding ways to move people up in levels and thereby allowing entry level racers to enjoy the class.. an example would be once you have won a Divisional Championship, you move out of the class.. or if you have a top ten Divisional season, you move out of the class..
I also agree that Super Street should be recognized on a National level.. included in all National Events.. and have a crowned National Champion.. it's only fair.. ALSO.. NHRA should not be cutting any classes from National Events.. why do they do it??.. I've been given many reasons by many people, the most popular being time and TV scheduling.. to run a round of Super Street takes what, 15 to 30 minutes tops??.. doesn't sound to hard to schedule to me.. |
