Spent a little time doing the final fitment for the Racecraft Inc strutless wing. Need to drop that off at the body shop this week for paint.

Re: 8.50 index build
This week the plumbing was completed. I used Brown & Miller PTFE lined, aramid fiber braid hose with their crimp on hose ends. Light weight, very flexible and should last for a very long time compared to rubber lined hose.

One other little fabrication project was to make a bracket to attach the 10 oz c02 bottle to the side of the fire bottle. Pro Werks billet clamps finished off the mount. Need to drop the bracket off for powder coating.

Re: 8.50 index build
Hello Todd,
Please explain the shift linkage. I'm certain I'm missing something. Thanks. See you at the races, Wayne Kerr |
Re: 8.50 index build
The travel sensor on the transmission linkage can be used for numerous things when tied into the Holley Dominator EFI.
Can be used for reverse lights, shift indicator, neutral safety switch, high gear timing retard, as well as idle circuit fuel/spark map adjustments to keep from dropping rpm when put in gear. I’m sure there is even more it could do. |
Re: 8.50 index build
Thanks Todd, didn't know it was a linear potientiometer.
That splains it. See you at the races, Wayne Kerr |
Re: 8.50 index build
Monday (yesterday) was another milestone in the build. Was able to fire up the engine and with some help get the efi adjusted some. Went well, so the next move is to drop the car back off at the body shop to install glass, trim and some other small things.
After that it’ll be time to put the car on a chassis dyno to work on refining the efi tuneup further. |

Re: 8.50 index build
I came to the realization that I didn't have any place to keep my things like tire pressure gauge, cell phone, sungless, or water bottle. Simple solution was to make a dragster glove box and attach it to the weight bar tabs on the passenger side rocker bar. The Mustang is small enough inside that I can reach while in the driver seat (just not belted).

Re: 8.50 index build
With the car at thee body shop for some final details, not alot I can update. I did work on some carbon fiber repairs to the dash so it can be painted & airbrushed. I changed from the Racepak IQ3 to the Holley 7" dash which meant the display opening needed to be filled in. Also while fitting the dash initially I notched too far for the X-brace so that needed to be filled in as well.

Re: 8.50 index build
A couple small projects taken care of. Front & rear glass and trim has been installed. Was able to get a brand new OEM Ford windshield and cleaned up the stock rear glass since that isn't available anywhere. The side moldings were also installed this week.
I have the car entered in the East Coast Indoor Nationals in December. Not sure the car will be ready... https://i.imgur.com/1qYY1jZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hXmsNRf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AxpAPHy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cPMVlTd.jpg |

The body shop has most of the trim installed. Starting to really come together. Also have the headlights glued in place.

Their body shop specializes in Porsche repair and restoration. They also do alot of various high end european cars, and don't do much in terms of domestic work, but they agreed to take on the old Mustang. |

Re: 8.50 index build
I should be picking up the car tomorrow. Gonna be some long hours to get the car ready for the show this coming weekend.
Sneak peak at the carbon dash. After sanding and the carbon repairs, the dash was painted with a textured paint to mimick the original vinyl/plastic look. Also had some air brushing done. Local guy is super talented. https://i.imgur.com/FwFeIJp.jpg |
Re: 8.50 index build
I got the car back Wednesday evening and got to work on the little of small things to get done before the Indoor East Coast Nationals car show this weekend in Timonium, MD.
Since the car was pretty well completely assembled, I took some time to set up the scales. Pics posted with and without driver. https://i.imgur.com/hQivJr8.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NNaMZtI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/fGShr9k.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4OwMaMo.jpg |

After a two day thrash to get done what I could, loaded the car up and dropped it off to the East Coast Indoor Nationals car show in Timonium, MD Friday morning. Sorta feel out of place being a racer amongst all of the show cars, but here to just hang out and pass some time, rather slowly that is. lol
