thanks, Roland

That's a 383 Hemi, as developed by Charlie Malyuke. It is a 383 block that has been adapted to accept the Hemi heads. The 383 and the Hemi share the same bore dimensions. Ronnie Sox and Dick Landy also ran these blocks in their Pro Omni's.

Steve,
Thanks for the answer. I forgot about these cars being in the old pounds per cubic inch system.

The article also says Dave Koffel helped in development of these motors...

Notice the machined boss on the right bank of the block used on 383 & 400 blocks...the 440 & Hemi blocks were more central located.

All of these John Hagen car pics are incredible. I was not aware of how sanitary and trick his race cars were. I may be wrong about this, but Reed Koepke had Hagen's Arrow in his possession a few years back and it was apparently still in mint survivor condition. Maybe Reed posts here occasionally?

I'd really like to see current pics of Hagen's Arrow ...primarily to see the current shape of the wheel openings on the rear 1/4 panels.

The very last Sox and Martin Pro Stock car entry, currently in Reed Koepke's possession.

the "Hagen Arrow" was on display at the Farmington, MN Mopar show a couple summers ago. I shot a few photos of it...
I am unsure of the exact time frame they were shooting for in their restoration, but it looked pretty cool to me.
(sorry about the lighting in the photos, the barn we were in had terrible lighting)

note the crew chief name on the hood scoop

the guy in the orange hat is the current owner.

Encourage everyone to visit the 1970 Hamtramck Registry and the Mopar Missle Photo collection. Well worth the time....enjoy!

Reed has a couple of the "mini pro stockers" which included the Hagan and Sox car. Go to the East Coast Drag Times Hall of Fame facebook page and click on mini pro stockers. Lots of photos.
