Will Lamprecht I/SA 1965 Impala in progress.

I think you hit the target, it looks great. And you won't have any trouble finding it in the staging lanes.

Good thread. I wish the 327-250 engine was rated the same as all the other '65 Chevrolet products at 245 rather than 251. It would make a good combination in this car. The 396-375 would also be fun. If the power rating were more favorable, this would be the last option to run a 409, too! Keep up the good work.

Thanks Dwight for the input, but I'll be using the 396/325 engine i ran in my 68.

Given the difficulties with all the other combinations, the 396-325 is the best choice with an automatic. I was just pondering the possibilities. A couple of those cars have hit the market here that are in "project" form.

Didn't Dennis Oliver run his 65 as a M/S with the 327 combo for a while?
Think he was doing that to get the 327 lined out for the Camaro he runs now.
That old 65 ran forever as a P/S 283 combo. I honestly was surprised he sold it. I am sure he had that car for over 20 years.

Yes, he tried it. IIRC the engine came from the Doughty brothers in Baton Rouge. At the time, I'm not sure he was trying to get an engine lined out for the Camaro, but the fact that he had it made the idea of the Camaro more reasonable. Dennis always had wanted a smaller car and I'm glad he finally got one. It's a nice one, too.
