Back to the the body shop today to see when they needed me to get paint, he said this week because they'll possibly be doing the jambs by the end of the week.

Nice! How much for them? Haven't bought headers from them since his father Jack was doing them.

I think it was $1500. It took a while (16-18 weeks) but he told me he already had many deposits in front of me. I sent a $300 deposit and the remainder when they were ready to ship.

Paint was ordered from the paint store, they'll mix it and deliver the color and clear to the painter today or tomorrow. Checked on the car and looks like they're working on the hood but the car body, doors, and decklid are almost ready to spray.

Saturday we changed oil in the motorhome and did a few little maintanence things, then we started pulling all the Nova's interior panels down from storage.

Re: H-I-J '76 Nova re-fit.

Sunday we started cleaning and prepping interior panels for a color change. Sucks we can't replace a few of these panels as they're pretty beat but parts just aren't available. We got 'em pretty good though, a few more to do and we gotta fix the dash pad or get lucky and find a good used one.

I have been following this build. It is very inspiring. I have a couple of questions, is Darren still in Ca and did you use SEM paint for your interior panels? Keep up the great work. I love stick cars.

Thanks Rod, Yes Darren is in CA. We used DupliColor adhesion promoter primer then DupliColor vinyl and fabric flat black. Seems to spray good and is real tough.

Todd,
I re-covered my '66 dash pad with a piece of marine vinyl from the local fabric store. Some spray adhesive and about an hour labor ended up costing me about $20. It even came out looking half-way decent!
Good luck on the build.
dEv0 Don.

Thanks Don, This pad has a massive bolt hole in it, I can fill it and cover it but in the end I'm holding out hope to find a better used one. I may however have to go your route.

Mine had huge cracks on it so I shaved them down, then covered the cracks with duct tape to smooth it out before I covered it.

This is the update I've been waiting for, Jambs and interior are in color. The doors are hung and they're setting the rest in place to paint the outside tomorrow.

Thanks Nick. We're leaving for GALOT tomorrow so hopefully when I get back on Monday I'll see a car we're about ready to re-assemble.

Darren Davis, he made them with the headers.

Re: H-I-J '76 Nova re-fit.

I figured it was probably way easier to buy the new front end bolts, washers, spring nuts, and fender alignment shims plated and all for less than $50 than to clean and paint the originals.

No, I'm sure they're not NHRA legal.

Paint shop, I think they DA with 1500 and buff. He said they'll do a final buff/polish when it's all together.
