It seems that they lifted the fines on oil downs for the pros, they still take points away, but no more money. How is it that they wont fine a team that gets their money from Castrol and Budweiser, but they will still fine the sportsman racer that has to take time off from work and use their savings money to go racing?

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Good point, but to me the "enhancement" of a bigger purse to the pro's ,that are corporately funded is a bigger smack in the face of all sportsman racers. That 1.3 million the NHRA just "found" could have upped payouts considerably at our level so you may not have to runner-up to break even...now is the time for the Sportsman Council to make some noise

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I'll bring it up.....

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Thanx Rock, keep this example in mind when you bring this up...let's say you attend 5 divisionals and 3 nationals to claim points...you go 5 rounds at each...you will finish most likely in top 3 in your div. and top 10 in the nation...and your $ payout will just about cover entries and race gas..the whole round money/contingency system needs work...thanx again

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
If you did finish top 10 in National points you get the gold card for the following year.
Now that is worth $ BUCKS $ if you race much the following year. Much more than the round money!!!! My 2 Cents |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
The Gold Card certainly is a nice perk, but if you think about it, it's really not worth ALL that much money. If you were to go to 10 National & 12 Division / Opens, that only equates to about $4,500 in entry fees. There aren't that many sportsman racers in the country that go to that many races.
In contrast, the fuel cost to go to 10 National & 12 Division / Opens would be far greater (at least double). So, if you win a Gold Card you're caught between a rock and a hard place. You want to use it because you have it, but you have to spend more money in gas to get to the race and back than it would have cost you to pay for car and driver entry. Now, don't get me wrong. I certainly won't turn down the Gold Card if and when it is ever offered to me. But IMHO it is silly to chase points simply to get yourself a Gold Card. I would MUCH rather see the payout increased for sportsman racers across the board. I know I can't be the only one that's lost in the Semis and felt like I was kicked in the nuts (and that's not unique to NHRA either, as IHRA is the same way). |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I think the Gold Card is only for the National Champ and the 7 Division Champs.
The Top 10 Nationally get a silver card, which is good for nationals only. |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
How about a fuel credit card for the top 10, LOL. Would be nice though.
|
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Now THAT would be worth chasing points over!
|
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I already suggested that....a fuel card is the ticket.....
the purse additions likely came from Coke...so unless somebody puts up the money for the sportsman purse increase...its not likely to happen.... cbs |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
I don't have a problem with the pro's making more money. I think it is stupid that they can be #1 qualifier win the show and set a record, and even if nothing blows up or crashes, they cant even come close to paying for the weekend with their prize money. The only problem I have is that a pro can lay 5 gallons of oil from start to finish and they don't get hit in the wallet, but we do. The oil down policy started with THEM not us! I think it should end with them also!

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
come on....you get a freebie....lets move on....

Granted, there's little chance that any of us will deposit fluid on the track twice in one season (which is why I'm OK with us moving on to another topic), but it still sucks. Unless the rules are different for the alcohol cars (which I don't think they are), they're probably 100 times more annoyed about this than we are. Now, go get us more money! |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
CBS,
I don't mean any dis-respect, but the thread is about the oil down policy, and if after 12 posts you think it is time to move on that's fine, but their might be other people that have an opinion. I personally would like to hear comments against my opinion to shed some light on it, maybe I am looking at this all wrong?? |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Personally I think the ONLY sportsman racers that should be responsible for oil downs is TAD & TAFC! They KILL RACES that are ahead of schedule everytime (Norwalk Saturday example) In fact TAD &TAFC should have there fines double every time they do it in the same weekend, begining with $250 first offense.......That might force some of these guys to actually put good parts in their motors....
JUST MY OPINION...... |
Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Your hard dude, .............but it does make sense

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
you don't have to worry about offending me.....I'm just tired of talking about it..........

Re: Latest Post on N.H.R.A.Com
Being on the council and listening to everyone bitch I am sure is getting annoying, but I know that we are all happy that you guys got us the freebie. Maybe if they let us clean up our own mess at the Carolinas while they use the other 2 lanes, they wont hit us with the fine.
