Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
Who is the best builder for a Super Stock Thermoquad ? Will it make any difference having a -8AN line going into as opposed to a -6AN line ?
Thanks |

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
Thanks Myron, but I need Racer testimonal as to who they used and I think JC is lookin for this info also. I've done 3 in house, one for shop test on customers engines and two for engines wev'e sent out the door for customers. All of them have been a challenge, hours to do, findin parts and then multiple pulls on the dyno to set air fuel, butterfly angles, air door shape and setting. All the ones my customers have come up with we need to fix... Someone out there must know...

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
I have #8 on my superstocker and #6 on my stocker, really don't see any difference either way...steve wann has had Brad Vanlant do a couple carbs, says he is pretty good with them.

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
So is Brad Vanlant an individual who does this for a livin or a side line and how do we get in touch with him?
|
Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
I dont' think he does them for a living! he races stock elim.. ill see Steve Wann in a couple days on my way to Pamona, i will check with him.. I believe Brad lives in the Midwest..

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
Steve Wann is good with TQ's. Angelo Phillips and I have been doing our own based on Steves original blueprint and have had good success.Jack Foshee is also really good with them also.we do away with the metering rod setup and run holley jets and a few other tricks.Right now we are testing to see wether the side inlet or the bottom inlet is better for fuel feed. and we have been using -6 line with a bypass system. Also use a good air cleaner.my company sells a single 4 copy of the fresh air style unit the works killer.

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
I don't want to say ive Mastard them, but ive done a pretty good job,, learning from Steve Wann, Bill Bushmaker, and a few other's... i guess ill know in about 7 days when i make a pass @ Pamona.... i just built a new one for my stocker.. I have a good back up that Marlin Bogner had done for my superstocker. so i guess if the new don't work it's back to plan B

Vince Impastato at Impastato Racing Engines - Clinton Township, MI. His stuff has produced back to back double digit dyno improvements over top 16 qualifying S/S carbs - and significant on track improvements as well.

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
Jim,
Locally I understand Bill Stewart also builds them although I have not seen him or his car around for ages. I think Mike Cotton told me once that he also builds the odd one on the side. |
Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
Denny Steward does them,as he run's one on his SS car and it a fast one. i know he does them for other people, his # is 717-676-3349, he is located in Port Orange FL.

I spoke with Vince for a good while. Hes a super good guy and seems extremely intelligent.

Re: Best builder of Carter Thermoquads ?
I'll have to agree with Denny Steward. He really helped the driveability of our 460 Mustang with the Thermoquad besides making it faster. And he won't quit until you are satisfied with it.
