Old Timers Racers Reunion - Coastal Plains Raceway
 

Any stock,super stock, or gas & modified racers who raced at Coastal Plains Dragstrip (Hwy 258 in Jacksonville, NC) in the 60s,70s, or 80s is invited to a get together for some good ole fashioned "bench racing."

What: bbq and chicken
When: Sat. 21st 3pm

Yes Danny; wives, family, girlfriends all are invited. I don't recommend bringing both wife and girl friend - j/k. Course I remember one of our friends who has passed away; he used to bring 2 girl friends - one on each side!
We have kids and grandkids coming, It's definitely going to be a family affair.

I apologize to some of the racers and families. Gainsville pts. race is that same weekend.
Also 2 of the fellows I mentioned are in drag heaven.


Danny, if you can help me spread the word up your way. The Warrens,Daniels, Troy Dennis, Yopps,Goodsons,McLawhorns,Humphreys,Hornes, are some who are planning on joining us.

We just want to get together while we're still "perking."

It looks like a lot of racers will be there.
I'm hoping Bob Rice can make it with all his pictures.

It would be nice if you could get Bobby Smith to come and bring some of Mr. Wayne Greenway's pictures with him. Can't wait for this event.

First - I want to thank everyone for all the support.
It looks like a great turnout.

We will have two tech officials from IHRA so if anybody wants to protest the fee will be LARGE. Robert Kinton and I are not cheap.. lol . /Really looking forward to this bench race event. Doyle , bring the practice tree.( that would be fun watching ) !

Thanks for bringing Robert. We probably need a good tech man (to make sure all the stories jive)! He can always tell who he's caught. Uh - maybe not.

Also maybe Bobby can make it since the owners of Newport and Holly Ridge dragstrips (flagman days) will be there.

I talked To Harold Denton. He sounded great and is looking forward to being there..

Just got back home .Man what an event. This was priceless. Unbelievable , Star studded ,Awsome reunion I have ever seen ,. More talent and History in this warehouse than you can imagine... Maybe Doyle can come on here and chime in on all the doings at this reunion .I know i am proud to be a part of it.Just look at the names on the list posted . THANK you Troy and Ronnie Humphrey for having this deal. Thanks to Doyle for letting me be a part of it.!

Thank you for the kind words and I appreciate you being there. It was an amazing day. We had 'em' from the age of your grandson to 80.

We had the original owners of Coastal Plains,Kinston,Holly Ridge, & Newport. It was a neat deal listening to them speak of the good ole days.

We had crewmen,family members,track officials and workers. And don't forget the IHRA tech official!

We even had people stop in off the street wanting to buy some of the hot rods we had parked our front.

It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of it. We are planning on have one every year from now on.

I want to personally thank everyone who went and was a part of a truly great experience.

Don't know if everyone on this list does not know about the East Coast Drag Times Reunion held each year in Henderson,NC. I missed this due to other commitment; however, I would like to invite each one to the reunion this year.
