Yes as far as I know they do.

I thought so too. Until I checked with NHRA. Mr. Josh Peterson of the home office informed me they do NOT.
I asked the question because I had run SS at the VMP divisional and recieved no grade pt.
Might pay to check (with someone other than Peterson)

Look at the national event registration pages on the NHRA site. it was explained pretty well there, last I looked.

I was told by Graham Light a few years ago that all classes cross over with one exception. You need Super Street grades to run in Super Street at a Nat. meet but super street grades can count towards any other class.

A racer who has specific questions about NHRA''s Sportsman grading system are encouraged to speak with his *or* her division director.

Obviously, this is where I went wrong.

Re: nhra grade points

I couldn't get that link to work but I have entered 2 Divisionals in T/D, one in S/Comp and three in Stock in 2009 plus on National Open in Stock. Will those count towards my Stock grading Points if I want to enter a Stock National event and towrds S/Comp if I decide to try that at a different event?

Thanks in advance, this was my first year gathering grading points and it took several car but we got to 7 races with grading points. It was fun but when they started in FLorida and ended in Iowa it was a lot of work for an old guy.

Grade points are another nhra myth. If there is room they will take you.

Happy you got in. I think as long as you have a permanent number in the eliminator you want to get in. They will let you.
I'm planning on going next year. Couldn't justify the cost this year.

I guess NHRA doent need the money I called last week to try to get in to charlotte
I have grade points from early 90's thru 2004 but since I move south not much Nhra
racing, The lady in calif. said no you need currant grade points the didnt care how
low the car count was.

Jim from what I understand Grade Points are good for three years, after that you zero out :(

Someone mentioned about 2 months ago also that they were getting in without grade points. So I tried myself (super stock and for super street) like Jim Morgan, but for Chicago with ZERO grade pts and it was a no go when they weren't even full.

So whoever is getting in without grade points please let us know who you talked to and what the SECRET password was to get in.

Re: nhra grade points

Was no secret password. I got in last year at Bristol simply by going online and entering. It may never work again. But I did not call anyone, I did not talk to anyone. It went to zero grade points on the Sunday before the event, I went online, logged in, and entered. It was maybe a month or two after I had re-joined NHRA and gotten a competition number again after around 15 years or so of inactivity. I did however have a permanent number, as Art mentions above. In fact, they even gave me my old number from years ago, 212A.

I made a statement sort of sarcastic

nhra has resinded this stupid rule. If there is an open spot you can get in with a 1 So I'll be saving some money and not going to as many points meets

.I said that nhra had made rules that said when a category closed with a specific number of grade points. If someone dropped out you would need the same or more grade points to get in. I even spoke to nhra about it and they told me that was the rule and that was that. Well when they realized they might lose a couple of bucks the rule got changed.
If an event closes and someone drops out you can get in as long as you have a grade point. Saves a lot of money and time for the racer, not having to travel to as many points meets.
