Bracket racing payout

I was just curios what other tracks charge and what kind of purse the pay out. I was looking at the new purse and entry fee of our local track and the percentage of what is paid back is pretty low in my opinion.

Here is the pay out they have listed.

Super Pro - $80 entry
0 – 16 17 – 32 33 – 47 48 - +
Win $250 $500 $750 $800
Runner Up $110 $225 $325 $400
Semi Finalist’s $0 $100 $125 $150

Pro - $70 entry
0 – 16 17 – 32 33 – 47 48 - +
Win $200 $400 $600 $700
Runner Up $80 $175 $250 $300
Semi Finalist’s $0 $85 $125 $150

Sportsman - $50 entry
0 – 16 17 – 32 33 – 47 48 - +
Win $75 $125 $150 $200
Runner Up $50 $75 $100 $125
Semi Finalist’s $0 $0 $40 $40

Dude,,,, Those payouts seem similar to what I'm seeing out here in the NW,,,however it looks like your Sportsman racers are taking it in the shorts compared to Pro and S/P

Higher entry and poorer payout than I've been involved with...did your track have a driver's meeting to discuss, are there extensive track upgrades or other extenuating circumstances?

Re: Bracket racing payout

No meeting that I know about. The track just changed hands. This is the first year for the new owner. All I know is it is cheaper with better payouts to Race at Brainerd and they have way more over head than this track.
Doing the math it takes very few cars to cover the posted payout.

Your choice appears obvious, go to Brainerd and take as many of your friends as you can with you and after you do make sure that the Track Operator understands why his car count is low and what you guys as his customers expect if he want if he wants your business.
The people who purchased or run the track are in business to make money so unless this change in payout affects their abiltiy to make a profit they have no reason to change it.

I noticed that too.

For sure not a favorable payout, on what is usually a low car count track in the first place!

In MN, Brainerd or Grove Creek are your better bets in my opinion.

Re: Bracket racing payout

Wow, those are the worst entry to payout ratios I've seen... Sportsman Class is By Far the worst, followed by the rest of the classes which are 40-50% higher entries and between the same to 20% less payouts. That's gross!

It sounds like an NHRA/IHRA payout vs national event entry and expense to me.

Re: Bracket racing payout

It would be good if they would at least add some round money. I just don't see people rushing to race for these purses. Just from following some of the threads on a different form I don't think he knows alot about the bracket racing. Seems to be more involved with bikes and street car racing.

I wish him luck as the track needed new ownership to try and bring some people back. I just don't think this plan is going to work.

Those payouts look like he got them from the local roundy round dirt track. What did this guy do before he naught the track, just curious.

Re: Bracket racing payout

John,
They may not be the best payouts. However, the 17-32 car payout is the same as Oahe no matter what their count is. Granted it cost an extra $20 to enter. But, if you have 33 or more cars then it's double of Oahe and if they do a good job with the track I'd think most weekends they should be able to get close to that 33 number. I know years back when we used to run there a lot it was almost always a six round race. Besides, at least one weekend you'll be running the S/SS combo right?

Re: Bracket racing payout

Rick that is the plan assuming I can finish getting things changed in time. I built a 255hp small block so I need to get the gears swapped still I don't think the 4:30s would work very well with the small block. I have had three shoulder surgery's in the last couple of years so things are going slow and am heading to Denver to the rehab hospital for a week the beginning of June. But I am trying hard to get it ready for that.

They did do one thing I really like there are no buy backs. But they will have a second chance race (not positive if that is what they call it) That any first or second round losers can get in on.

There may be some hope. I checked there site today and the pay out is now removed and this message is up.

Payouts currently under review, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Please check back soon for the updated payout break down.

Thank you,

Here at Gainesville, pro and super pro run off for the money, it doesn't get any cheaper than that! To a footbrake racer it's just insulting, so I race elsewhere.

Never Mind they re posted pretty close to the same thing with a little quarter money added to the high car counts. Mostly in the form of a free entry. The top money did not get any better.

I'm surprised more people haven't chimed in, you must be happy to just show up and donate money, track owners like that attitude:)

Some of our local points race purses Super pro
2,000-400-100-50 EF50 BB40 2rds BB

1,200-200-50 EF35 BB40 2rds BB

1,000-200-75 EF50 BB30 2rds BB

Some of what we exprience in the southeast.

There are exceptions
Rockingham recently had 2,000-500-100-50 Free entry-BB50 2rds BB

Piedmont does 2,000 to win with rd money not sure about the rest of their program

The rest are some where in the middle. Most let you double enter, 2 rds of BB, and very TOP HEAVY purses

Where do you race at? Douglas, SGMP, Sunshine? Just wondering, I live in Jacksonville, so I am in between a couple tracks. Thanks.

We were at the bracket finals one year. A racer told us he had his best year ever he had won 10 races and a little over $3,000 for the year Footbraking. I was amazed. I had won 1 race that paid that much. I asked him where he was from. He said Florida. They raced 1/4 mile too. I could'nt beleive those tracks got away with that little payout.
We are spoiled in the Carolinas, and the racers don't realize it.

I like the Calcutta, Our two semi local tracks run a Dialing for Dollars pot.
Based on the last TT.
It seems like they are different. One can be closest to dial, the other is best package.
The buy backs are a big deal ,too.
I had a buddy that raced at a low car count race do his second round buy back for $25 and put him in the semi with $50 pay out.

The 1/4 tracks here are Gainesville,Orlando,Bradenton and the old Moroso, now PBIA. Raced for years at Moroso, decent payout, Bradenton and Orlando are dead cheap,$300-$400 footbrake win money:eek:I did a season at SGMP,pro winner and sportsman champion, I won $850 for the season. I'm ready to build a 330' track in my back yard!:D
