IHRA Pro-Am, Ashcroft, BC - May 20 -23

Per DRM sounds like the track will be resurfaced?

Are they contesting stock or super stock?

If so, anyone committed to participating at this event?

Please post any information you may have regarding this event. This track is 8-9 hours away from me. I am contemplating making the trip to check this out and support IHRA out west.

thanks

I will be there with my junk :)! As an added bonus the following weekend is the mission divisional. Great track a little on the grass roots side but at least a venue to beat on our stuff. I understand it will be stock and super stock, and a double header.

Good to hear from you Dion!

So it looks like at least one person headed to Ashcroft, any others? I started a list of committed competitors for the IHRA Nitro-Jam event in Salt Lake. Let's start one here for this event.

Based on my plan to hit both Salt Lake and Edmonton Nitro-Jam Events in June, I need to make sure that we will have enough stock eliminator competitor's to make the trip worth while. Ten is a good number for me, personally.

1) Dion H. -H/SA
2) Paul Plummer - F/CM ( In if 9 other stocker's commit)
3) Marshall Greenwell - K/SA
4) James Boyce
5) Darcy Clarke - AA/SA
6)
7)
8)
9)
10)

Feel free to copy the above list, add your name and repost the list or just reply to this thread with your name and class.

Thanks

Paul there was a short thread on this race a couple of weeks ago I think Phillip started it. I plan on attending there are a couple guys from Mission that should be there and some from the Seattle area also. This will be my first IHRA race still have to figure out what class to run. Have to get the car back together this weekend first. When it gets closer I will have a bunch of question about what class and memberships but I look foward to a double header and returning to Ashcroft have not race there in a couple of years but have always like this track because have won quite a few races there. Paul you can go back and edit your list to add names.

I would be happy to help you with IHRA Stock class information. I just recently converted my NHRA C/SA car to an F/CM car for very little cost. I hope we get enough interest in this event, I always love racing with my Canadian brethren.

I can`t understand why it would be. It`s always been 1/4 mile since it opened almost 25 years ago.

If all goes well I will be there with A/SA and SS/JA entries. According to Mike Baker they are for sure running separate classes for Stock and Super Stock. As well if any of the West cost folks are intending on competing at Edmonton and need a place to park their trailers between the Pro Am and the Nationals I could help some out.

I agree Phillip, I had emailed Mike Baker and was told it would be run as separate classes. I would like to know how they are going to qualify for the World Finals if they only run a combo in our division. It is unfortunate.

When I had first looked into the pro - am series out west every other division was a qualifier but us border bandits. It may have changed and I could be wrong, I had got my info off of the IHRA site. It would be a lot better if we had seperate classes as opposed to a combo, but something is better than nothing

Yes I agree something is better than nothing I was just wanting to have the same opportunity for the same entry fees, membership fees as racers have in other divisions. Will I still support the race sure I will, but I just want to get the best bang for the buck I can.

Re: IHRA Pro-Am, Ashcroft, BC - May 20 -23

The details surrounding the 5 Divsion 6 Pro-Am's are now a little fuzzier? A few weeks ago I asked Mike Baker if we would be allowed to attempt records at the division 6 Pro-Ams. He indicated that IHRA is not yet set-up to do that out west. I asked the question because IHRA does not allow for records to be run at National Events. So far no way to set records in division 6.

I was not aware that the Division 6 Pro-Ams this year will not contest the full compliment of classes which also means no contingency payout if the program is the same as the Salt Lake Nitro-Jam Stock/SS Combo. The Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake is kicking in the purse to entice folks to come and race IHRA, which based on the list of committed racer's in the RMR post, seems to be having a positive effect. The goal here is to prove to IHRA that there are enough stock and super stock racers interested in the IHRA program so that in future years we get the full compliment of classes at the National and Pro-Am events.

Make no mistake, I am definitely on board for the alternative of IHRA out west and I know all great things take time, however, as a business owner I think it would be prudent for IHRA via Mike, Skooter or Aaron to send out a communication regarding the format of the Pro-Ams in division six this season to eliminate any confusion as to what these events are or are not.

I will email Mike and Skooter on this and would encourage anyone reading this post to do the same.

My perception is that there is a lot of excitement and buzz surrounding IHRA's expansion out west to offer an alternative to NHRA and IHRA has been working hard to secure tracks out west. I would hate to see the racer enthusiasm turn negative due to misunderstanding during this time of IHRA's expansion out west.

Combo or not, I believe it is worth supporting this organization's efforts to build this division.

Mike or Skooter anything to add to this post?

Hey Paul,

Excellent post, I agree that we need some clarification as to what the Division 6 in IHRA is offering. I look forward to hearing the response as I had emailed IHRA previously and was told they would be run as separate classes. I will support the Ashcroft race with one car but would prefer to take 2 for the same fuel costs. I would assume having the opportunity to Qualify for the TOC and contingency would attract more entries.

I am looking on the Eagle Website and the IHRA Pro-Am website and cannot figure out the exact race days for this event. They just list May 20-23. Is it really a 4-day event?

Seems like most of the Pro-Ams and national events are 2 day affairs?

I have decided to attend this race and I am trying to make work and travel plans. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

As I understand it, the 20th will be a test and tune day. SREPA 6-1 will be run on the 21st and SREPA 6-2 will be run on the 22nd. The 23rd is some kind of Canadian holiday and a bracket race event is planned for that day.

Car counts shouldn't make a difference as to which classes are run at a Pro-Am. They should run all 7 classes as separate classes. Dallas last year only had 2 cars in SS, and the same 2 cars ran their category both race days.

Hey Phil for the stocker just call the registration department and you can even get your NHRA competition number assigned for IHRA, as far as the brackets I would assume a membership would be a membership at that point. I have had an Ihra number for a few years now and the people at the reg office are super helpful........and they even call you back!!

Hi Frank,

I am a racer from the newly formed Division 6 and I have cars that run in both Stock and Super Stock classes, I and many other racers have been trying to get a straight answer on what the new to us Pro-AM series is offering. Are you running separate classes for Stock and Super Stock? Many of us have asked about setting records is there going to be an opportunity? Will the top 3 in points get a berth into the TOC like every other division? Will there be any Class eliminations held? What contingency is offered? What are the Pro-AM payouts?

We are all excited to have choice but would like the opportunity to have the same options for the same costs as every other IHRA member. I would appreciate some answers to these questions as they will dictate where my racing dollars are spent.

Darcy Clarke

"We are excited as well to extend our Summit Pro Am Tour out to our fellow competitors in Canada. There are no class eliminations at any pro am event nor has there ever been, Stock and Super stock class eliminations are run at select Nitro Jam events. "Each class will have a Division champion which includes that the top 3 in each of the 7 Summit Pro Am categories(Hot Rod, Stock, Quick Rod, Top Sportsman, Super Rod, Top Dragster and Super Stock, will quailfy for the TOC event at the World Finals, Each event has class contingency for each of the 7 Pro am classes. I have included a link for the contingency postings for each class and payout page that shows the payout for each class of the Summit Pro Am Tour. We will not be set up or able to do class record runs this year. This is the first year for the Division 6 Pro am tour and we will have limited resources on our part but other than record runs or tear downs you as a racer will not be limited in anyway as far as anything else goes in the Summit Pro Am tour events. Thank you for supporting IHRA and I look forward to working with you in the near future, please feel free to contact me if you or anyone should have any additional questions or concerns. Each of the 7 Summit Pro Am catergories will be run separately as their own class for 2011. Please feel free to spread the word and help get the racers to support these events in Division 6.

I think all 7 classes run separatly and top 3 qualify for TOC. "Each of the seven pro am catagories will run separatly for 2011". Looks like separate stock and super stock to me. I wish I could commit to this race, but motor still apart and the wife may prevent me from going.

My crazy Canadian drag racer friend from Calgary sent me this joke, thought it was funny & a great way to keep this thread on the front page & hopefully pick-up a few more participant's to add to the list!

This is supposedly a true story............but you never really know

A teacher was reading the story of the Three Little Pigs to her class.

She came to the part of the story where first pig was trying to gather the building materials for his home.

She read. 'And so the pig went up to the man with the wheelbarrow full of straw and said: 'Pardon me sir, but may I have some of that straw to build my house?'

The teacher paused then asked the class: 'And what do you think
the man said?'

One little boy raised his hand and said very matter-of-factly...

'I think the man would have said - 'Well, F--- Me!! A talking pig!'

The teacher had to leave the room.
