Re: headers

If I understand your post, you are looking for Stocker Headers. If so..............

I would highly recommend contacting Greg at REF Headers in Kingman AZ (928) 692-0111

He has done several for us on different cars and engine combos. I have always been happy with the results.

He builds nice headers for a good price and they are delivered on time.

Re: headers

Joe Zwilling at Fat Joe's Racecraft in Minnesota has done a set for my Bracket Chevelle and just did a set for my SS Camaro last year.
The one's on my Camaro were a tad faster than the Stahl's that were on it when I bought it from Dan Larson.

And Joe has helped with our local S/SS Combo events as a sponsor now and again.

Jere announced that he would stop making headers as of June 2011, a shame!

I heard that Stahl is going to quit making custom headers. I heard off the shelf headers will still be available.

Re: headers

I sure like my Elston headers. They are not cheap but a definite performance gain over my Stahl headers.

Jere does not really build "shelf headers". Each set is custom built for a particular engine combination. Buying a set of Stahl headers requires as much information as ordering a torque converter from a good company like ATI. Jere Stahl has been a friend for several years, he loves data. Our Stahl headers were custom built, though they were built in a jig for the 1st generation Camaro. He even requires a port opening template, so he can match the header flanges correctly.

Re: headers

Al, you are absolutly right. Bruce Parson and I went through the same drill. Talked in length to Jere to get the right info. to manufacture the optimal header for our car. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. I'll bet Stahl has more dyno data for more engines than any other header manufacturer in the country.

Jere's work is legendary but if he has cut back I'd have to recommend Mark Lelchook's work. Give him a call and see for yourself....

I am a big fan of Pete Z, we got a set for our car when nobody else could deliver, and they make more power than others we tried afterwards. We did put merge collectors on, and picked up even more hp.
