Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
First Braille batteries are made by DEKA check out the DEKA powersports line same battery---- second Brailles cost about almost 50% more than the exact same Deka battery---third Braille exagerates the CCA specs on the battery compared to what DEKA claims it to be--- yes you can use them in pairs or triples---- No you do not need a special charger other than using the correct charging amperage and a charger that is designed to be used with AGM batteries---

I used an 11 lb Braille bat in my R/SA Jeep 6 cyl for 3 years BUT- it is not enough to go rounds - 1 run every hour with charging is what you get.
Switched to Deka 18 lb last year and requires less charging and always starts - also costs about $80 instead of $150! |

I bought one earlier the year, p/n 3121. Works for me. You need to use one of the low amp/mantainer chargers. I don't have an electric water pump(pure stocker), so all it does is start the car. I've made 8 runs at a test&tune, no problems. If I knew about the Deka, I'm sure I'd would have gone the route.

Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
OK, let's get the facts straight here.
Deka and Braille are NOT the same battery. Not even close. The only thing they have in common is that both are manufactured in Pennsylvania by East Penn Manufacturing. That's it. Deka batteries are made to Deka specs and Braille to their specs. Braille specs are not over stated and they have the best racing battery warrantee in the industry. If you buy too small a battery for your needs it will not perform to expectaions. We are a dealer and a firm believer in the product. Tony and Beth's EFI stockers both have had the B3121 Braille batteries in them for 5 years now. I think their performance record speaks for itself. If you are interested in one feel free to call me at 219-861-1214 days. We stock the B3121 |

Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
I've run them for just over three years and they've worked very well for me. I use the B3121, one up front and one in the trunk.

Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
is there anything special about an AGM charger?

Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
I now have a brand new B3121 battery and I am also running a 1 wire 140 amp GM alternator. Will this set up work on the street? Will this set up over charge the battery? I don't want to start any electrical gremlins in this Mopar.

Re: Braille battery....any users want to comment
We are also a dealer for Braille Batteries and just to reinforce what has already been said.
The Braille and Deka batteries are definitely not the same battery by any means. The batteries are made in the USA and Braille does offer the best full race warranty there is. We use a lot of the B1632 which is the 16 Volt AGM batteries (we have had nothing but great reviews) and I have a few customers who are running 12 Volt Lithium Batteries as well (he's going on about 7 years now with that battery). We will hopefully be having a few 16 Volt Lithium Batteries being used in the near future as well! The batteries, as far as I'm concerned, are the best quality that I have seen and they stand behind their products. We had the B1632 batteries in cars for a little over 4 years now with no issues - they are lightweight and strong. Being that both batteries are made by East Penn I'm sure the same quality goes for Deka. Good luck with the remainder of the 2012 season! |
