We have a place in Illinois like that, it's called Chicago, not really sure just what they speak up there. |

Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
Most American's are ignorant of the politics of Canada since we have two different political systems.
Quebec has been trying to secede for a long time, some of the more rabid members believe, like the France, that they are above the rest of the country and speak the golden language of French. They feel that they should be a separate country from Canada. I say let them secede, put a fence around all of Quebec, make them all get passports in order to visit Canada, set up passport control stations and charge them a tax on everything that goes in or comes out....oh yeah, put a Canadian Embassy in Montreal so they could apply for visa's to visit the real Canada. JimR PS thank you, Canada, for the support you given the U.S. in the wars we've fought side by side. Very few American's know the sacrifices you've made and even less know that you smuggled American's, including the Ambassador, out of Iran when it fell. For my fellow snipers out there and Canadian sniper recorded the longest kill shot in history in Afghanistan of a mile and a half using a 50 cal. Mcmillian with U.S ammunition. |
Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
If I remember right, back in the 90's, this was actually voted on in Quebec. Seems like it was the Meach Lake Accord or something like that. Very close vote. Less tha 51 to 49% against. If it happens maybe the eastern provinces will become US states. Family has a place in NB. Maybe it will become the 51 state since the Atlantic Provinces would be cut off from the rest of Canada.

Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
It's deeper than that Ed, they don't realise they lost the war.
They would just send a bigger *hitload of rosetta stone "learn french" to the rest of Canada instead. Hell, all the friggen politicians either come from there or bow down to the french so eventually they'll take over anyway. Trudeau when he was prime minister jammed a bunch of liberal crap down our throats. Bilingualism (cause the french have the right to use their own language through out the country right? But it's illegal to have english signs in quebec???) The metric system (cause the US was 75% of our trade and they would be changing soon..now your like 90% of our trade and....yeah) I could go on but as you can see, I'm bitter.... |

Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
54 of 125 seats is hardly a win. A minority government is a moot point!
The Parti Quebecois can do nothing without the cooperation of the other side of the floor! |
Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
I was kinda hoping they would seperate , it'a 12 hour drive from Toronto to New Brunswick , 6 hours to get through Quebec.
So if they leave it should cut the trip to Grama's in half ---Trevor |
Re: Sounds of cricketts chirping
Trevor take the time to learn your Canadian History first. Yes, you can be frustrated but as Peter Ash so eloquently said 54% isn't a majority. Just more s$^# in a time when we need stability. We are all Canadian living in a great country with the our best friends living right next door.

tj310, you are welcome to talk about all politics here. If you want to discuss Canadian politics you probably need to get some of your fellow Canadian racers to join in here. Just sayin'. Jim
