Yenko Deuce photos look like they were shot at a race track,, perhaps?
Top photo ,upper right corner looks like staging lanes and bottom photo looks like pits in background,, a funny car with body up? Strange shoe polish markings on Nova's window too. It looks like a good candidate for restoration to me,,, wouldn't mind finding one in that condition.

I had my own "Barn Find" experience just yesterday. Went with a friend to a little old man and ladys home about 30 miles from here and pulled out a 67 Buick Electra 225, 430/400turbo WITH switch pitch and a 66 Caddy Sedan deVille. The Buick was parked in 1990 and the Caddy in 1982. Both nice cars and the Caddy only has 20k on it. We got them both running and drove the Buick home. Sorry, no pics.

Our local chevy dealer is going to have a sale sometime in the near future. He has over 200 new [ yes brand new little or no miles never been tagged] with cars from the sixty and seventy that are going to sell. A 58 camio pickup with 38 miles. A 63 chevy 2dr ht in brand new in the front window. Mid seventys corevette pace car just been driven around the block. You always here about this stuff but here it is 3 blocks away. Tom

Tom, is this the Cameo you're talking about?

Remember a few years back when you sold that dark blue Nova to my buddy? Before we came to get the car from you, we took a bunch of photos through the windows of that dealership.
Here's my Nova when I first laid eyes on it:

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.

For years, a gold 63 split window coupe sat next to a tree behind a house a few miles from here, and at the end of the driveway sat a blue 70 Corvette convertible with a white top in an open front shed. People tried for 20 years that I know of to buy them. One day the guy sold them both for around $10K.

Never heard of a RS/Z28 convertible. Or for that matter, any 1969 Z/28 convertible.

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.

A couple I know of. Down in Madison, Indiana, where Tod's daughter lives. There's a 68 Camaro that an old man owns (along with a bunch of other cars in his yard). Looks decent and salvagable, he won't talk to anyone about it.

Not a great car but my next door neighbor has a 77 Corvette that probably has less than 10k just setting in the driveway. Story we got, bought the car new, his wife didn't like the car. He only drove it a couple years and just parked it. It's in pretty sad shape paint wise. Don't know about it mechanically. Am sure it could be bought but he's pretty unrealistic on selling things.

I probably missed out on a usable car. A good friend that I shared another hobby with inherited a house and property. We met he and his wife for dinner a few weeks back. He told me that there was a 66 4 door Nova in the garage. It didn't have an interior, motor or transmission. They traded the car for some tree removal.

The one and only early Z28 Camaro convertible was a '68 built for Pete Estes, Chevrolet General Manager. It was sold at an auction a few years ago.

Charlie, I've always meant to ask you about that, so what type of cars did you hear about that were destroyed by the hurricane & floods down there.

Re: Barn Finds, cars left for dead.

Only one I know of as a fact was a 427 66 Fairlane. Went under 12 ft. of saltwater.
There were reports of approx. 500,000 vehicles lost. We had acres and acres of storage lots for flooded cars.
You could see classics and muscle cars, custom and antiques in the copart lots.
Fresh water flood cars can sometimes be recovered.
Saltwater flood.....slow rusty death.
Sad.

Here's an older story I found about a local "cow pasture" lot that processed over 30,000 Katrina cars.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/01/au...anted=all&_r=0

I saw 18 wheelers loaded with cars and trucks headed up U.S.49 for months.
A lot of the cars then looked like they just took them from your driveway and loaded them up.
Should have crushed them all. Can't help but wonder how many "used" parts were sold off the Katrina vehicles.

http://multivu.prnewswire.com/mnr/pr...573-flood3.jpg

Some submerged. Some float.

Anyway...back to the topic.

New discoveries anyone?

Great Great car 68 Rcodeman!!!!. I assume this is yours??? A good friend of mine has owned one since I believe 1970. Still wears it's original paint/interior, & to this day it sees the 1320 at least 20 times every season. Runs strong for a street driven "stocker".He pedals it to keep it over 11.50's cause he refuses to bar it. Altho he runs it with Weld wheels he still has the original Keystones he purchased it with. No, they're not for sale,& they are beautifull. I've tried several times.
Sooooo- what's hiding under the other cover??

Liteweight, Thanks. Yes a real barn find. Russ Davis Ford delivered. Raced by Phil Glass in West Covina. Found in a yard four years ago with thirty other cars including a 70 Boss Nine. I recieved the car and washed it . Detailed the original paint and built a new motor for it. 321 actual miles. Returned to Bakersfield where it was raced at the March Fuel Gas Championship 1969. Has a sticker on the windshield from Tech that still looks new. Also a Valvoline Race Oil sticker on the oil pan that says 1969 Spring Nationals participant ..Please etll me your friends name? I would love to chat cars.
Thanks David in FL.

This '65 Plymouth Belvedere was restored at Bob Mosher's place in Southern California...then someone stole it and took it out for a joyride and destroyed it.

Lightweight, I seem to recall you are from Manitoba, correct? If so, you must be refering to a blue 68 1/2 CJ Mustang owned by Don F? If so, I met Don at our local Ford race at Mission Raceway, and he ran what I believe was his first 10 second pass (sans roll bar!) Quite the guy!

Hi Rory
Correct, I am from Manitoba. Also correct on the CJ & owner. I've known Don since the early 80's. We met one day when I drove by his house with my 70 hemi cuda. I quess he was outside when I rolled by, saw/heard it & jumped into his car & followed me home. We've had a few street bashes over the years both in town & deserted highways. Next time you see him, ask him bout the time he didn't see a cop at an intersection previous to one of our street bashes. I tried to get his attention, but Don was too busy looking at the lights waiting for the green. In total disbelief, I watched as he proceeds to launch the car right in front of the cops. He made it into 2nd before the cherries came on. I still remember the look on his face as I idled by. He was actually able to talk himself out of any tickets. Yup, quite the guy.

I bought both the RR and the GTX . The RR was in Joe Stantellas collection and is now in Canada, and the GTX is in Brent Torinos collection in Las Vegas. I sold both to pursue E Bodies.

The blue '68 had the Hemi stolen out of it early on in Detroit and was in a garage in Jackson, MI. The other Hemi '68 was a silver with red interior car originally. There are long stories on all these Hemi ragtops.
HemiMoose, I'll see if I can find more pics, and I wish I could post the pics in your format, but on this site and the HAMB, mine appear as thumbnails.
