Bob Lundholm retires from drag racing

After 41 years, my Dad, Bob Lundholm officially retired from drag racing last weekend when he sold his Nova; the one my Grandmother bought new off the showroom floor! Bill and I have learned a tremendous amount from him over the years.

My Dad was inducted into the New England Dragway Hall of Fame a few years ago.

Congratulations on a fun filled 41 years of drag racing!

Love, Brenda & Bill

I hope I'll get to see him sometime-it was good to get to know him at the ASRA races-he even liked that I referred to him as Brenda's dad.

Mixed emotions, I would guess, but congratulations. A good racer, person as well as a good teacher! Brenda is fortunate to have you as a dad. It was a pleasure meeting you.

The Last Pass!

Having to watch Bob's "Last Pass" during the ASRA race was difficult.
Knowing "Hot Wheels" for over 40 years. I begged him to reconsider, but he kept offering cookies (private joke, his wife is Armenian)
His mind was made up, no tuning back.
The "Lil" blue Nova has gone to a "Great new home" (the Deuce factory)

One of the most "Respected" Drag Racers I've ever known!

Congratulations on your retirement Bob,
Your one of the Best!

Greg

Re: Bob Lundholm retires from drag racing

I think we will see just as much of Bob and Sandy next year as we have this year, he just won't have his stocker. I suspect and hope he will be at all the races at New England . Rumor has it he is crew chief for Brad Rose who is coming out of retirement and has been working on his camaro. It was great that Bob made his last runs in the Nova at one of the ASRA events. He always kept track of the Association even when he lived in Texas and Georgia.

Many nice things have been said here about Bob, they are just a small sampling of the man he is.

I hate to hear this but i completely understand. I miss the talks we used to have at breakfast before a days racing. Bob, you are a unique individual who spawned a couple of great racers. Bobby and Brenda (my dancing partner) are two of the best. Come down and see us sometime. Jim

Re: Bob Lundholm retires from drag racing

I have known Bob for a few years and had the pleasure of racing with him as a bracket racer and as a sportsman racer. Bob is a true racer and friend. There is no one who is friendlier or more helpful than Bob.
Good luck on your "retirement" Bob and don't be a stranger. I will miss seeing you go down the track at NED.
See you in the pits at the ASRA races at Epping and the divisional too.

Re: Bob Lundholm retires from drag racing

Bob is # 1 in every way and I'm proud to call him a very good friend. It was a sad day when Bob moved out of Div II as we always enjoyed our time with Bob at the races or in the shop.

Best wishes to Bob and Sandy

PS, Bob loves to scrape.
