1964 Savoy Aluminum SS build
I have started my build of my original 1964 Plymouth Savoy Aluminum car, I will be doing all the build myself with help from My wife, kids and some close friends. This should be a fun journey as my target is to race it next year as me and both my Max Wedges will be 50 years old. I have started by repairing some of the body modifications done to run it as a 4 speed and fender well headers. So far the Trans tunnel is repaired as well as the inner fenders and I am about 40% done fabricating the cage.
I have tried to attach some photos I am not sure if the will work. Darcy Clarke 6254 A/SA SS/JA |

These are some photos of the the car as i got it, not race ready. It has a steel nose and I was lucky enough to locate the Aluminum components that were missing.

Re: 1964 Savoy Aluminum SS build
I hear you Mark unfortunately I am sure I wouldn't pass tech with the inner fenders cut out that much, as well some of the cutting was a little rough.

Re: 1964 Savoy Aluminum SS build
Hi Ron
I have completed the cage and backhalf And the cage is now certified. I have the new Headers from Mark at Performance Welding, one of the few items that I won't be building myself and boy do they look awesome! I have my new pistons, rods, crank and I am starting to machine the block as we speak. It has been real cold near -40 for about a week so being in the shop working on the car in my spare time has been awesome. How have you been making out with your Wedge? Re: 1964 Savoy Aluminum SS build
Well found # 5 cylinder to be scored , so have eng apart . Also figured cam with a 112 degree lobe seperation wont work. So just pushing ahead.
P.s. Looking for a 50 mm cam for a b or rb mopar engine:( |

Re: 1964 Savoy Aluminum SS build
Hi Bob
I have been working at machining the engine as well as fabricating the intake. This has taken a ton of time, the engine is ready to assemble and I have to Finnish the intake then it Dyno time. The engine has been a real challenge due to It being a Max Wedge. Right now I am waiting to move forward with the body until I get more time (work is getting in the way of fun). I have photos but haven't had the time to resize them to post. Darcy Clarke 6254 A/SA SS/JA |
