"Live" from our Autumn Leaf Tour 2013
 

Well we are on our way to the first of 10 races in 11 weeks tour! We have planned a very busy fall break for 2013. We are on our way to Bowling Green now. We should be there in about 3 hours. We plan on testing this afternoon. It looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend. Only Friday calls for just some isolated showers in the afternoon.

But for the rest of our agenda (if all goes well and the creeks don't rise)! First is Bowling Green, then of course, Indy. Then Bristol for the points race, then Charlotte #2 national event. Then fishing on the Atlantic coast for a couple of days, then Columbus Sportsnationals. Then home for a couple of days (to do laundry). Then St. Louis national and Noble, OK divisional. Then on to Las Vegas for a month. First is the Jegs Sportsnationals, off a week, then national event, followed by the divisional.

Making this Odessey with us will be our good friends, Mike and Paula Cotten. I can't wait for the fun to begin!

Well , good for you guys, enjoy ,enjoy ,enjoy, when I read the "Autumn Leaf" headline, I thought we would see you at the Maple Grove Dutch Classic. Have a great time, yes we all like to read your reports, but don't think it is your job. Have a ball, and don't worry the grandkids will be there smiling when you get back.

Larry, I really enjoy your trips, I look forward to every posting that you make. It's a sence of entertainment to think that everyone in this world doesn't have to sit at a desk all day. Enjoy your travels and be may they be safe ones. I'll try to say hello at Indy.

Well we are here in Bowling Green and it looks like Saturday at a race instead of Thursday afternoon! Lots of people here already. Test and tune is in full swing and the track is hooking great as usual. Lots are testing getting ready for the heat and humidity of Indy. The density altitude was about 3200' just a bit ago.

Well it is going to be a typical 3"H" day at Bowling Green! Hazy, hot, and humid! Super Street is first out at 9, then Stock, Super Gas, Super Stock, and Super Comp and then all over again. There is a clean-up run on the schedule. I am going to say there is well over 100 stockers here. We will see shortly!

Thanks to Quik-Fuel for providing a very good barbq dinner last night for everyone! It was really nice of them to do that again this year!

Larry has been working day and night on the car and yesterday was no different. He tried a different converter in test and tune and slowed down so then he changed it back last night.

Hopefully everything is ready to go now and he won't have to work on it much today.

It's only gonna be in the 80's, heck that is 10 degrees cooler than when we were there 2 years ago, break out the jackets

Good googa mooga! It's not really THAT hot at 88, and the humidity could be worse at 57%, but it's the vapor pressure that tells the tale: .773. Like many others, I am literally just dripping wet. 29.57 baro, 3077' DA. Slowest I've run all year. Hooked fine, but not making enough power in this soup to yank 'em nice like Michigan two weeks ago.

I'm right beside the staging lanes and can't hear a word of the PA. The radio (87.9) is good up here, but I've heard it's spotty as you get down past the s oreboards.

Severe thunderstorm warning right now. The track stopped racing so the racers could get back and store their cars.

Yup! As bad as I wanted to make a lap with the tailwind, we knew it meant rain, so good call. It's cooled down to 73. Head's still pounding as I haven't been able to keep up with hydration enough, but I beat the pavement getting a Class Nationals flyer into the hands of every racer. There were several that hadn't heard of it. Never take anything for granted!

Thanks Patsy for the picture. We were just changing the oil and yes my transmission troubles are all fixed. It's raining pretty hard and may be done for the day. 122 stockers have made a hit so far. This place is really neat.

The Q2 sheet shows Jeff Hairrington driving a 69 Camaro in B/SA. I thought he had a 13 Mustang. Which is correct?

It's a 13 Mustang.

They're currently drying the track after a short storm during the second round of SS, it didnt rain very long, but it rained hard, so it's taking a while. It did cool off after the rain, which was very needed. There is still maybe 30 or so cars left to run in SS.

Girl can drive! The car's always been wicked, but that's craziest I've ever seen it. Someone said "wheelie bars next".... You don't know Jamie! ;)

After the rain, David Manning and I were getting ready to stage when some pretty sizable critter jumped the wall right before half track and skjttered aacross, jumping the far wall. It's probably something Teuton brought with him like a chupacabra or something.

Hey Michael, I think someone said it was a raccoon! But I don't know, maybe Jeff did bring it with him!

It did cool off a lot after the rain, but there were lots of puddles (and creeks) in the pits. They had the sucker truck out here in the road just down from where we are pitted.

They are running comp now and then super comp, then the clean-ups I believe.

We start out with Super Street in the morning at 8, so more tomorrow.

Could be. It was a big sucker! If Jeff didn't bring him, he's probably on the grill now.

Bradley waved us off, but it went across pretty quick, and we went back to racing. I gave him a big grin and two thumbs up and he was still laughing in disbelief.

Can't make this stuff up. Really need to start using my go pro!

The copo is an auto. They seem to have issues with it just gremilins.

Still hot and humid today, but a little tailwind has made it more to the liking of both man and machine. 86.1 F, 58%, 29.69 baro, 2751' DA, .729 VP at 10:30 am.
