1966 Biscayne Build

3 Attachment(s)
I've been putting this Biscayne together for the last 8 years. Finally on the last stage. My plan is to make it look like my father's 66 factory 427/425 Biscayne that he raced at National and West Hampton from 66 to 68. I bought it on ebay for $305 from Shelter Island.

Motion replaced the motor in 67. Bought new at Bast Chevrolet and was the first modified 427 Biscayne done by Motion.

Re: 1966 Biscayne Build

Great looking big ole' Chevy! My 68 Impala (the Green one in the picture ) was an original 427-425 4 speed car, it was sold it to a fella who restored it back to stock because I had the original # matching motor/trans with it.

Just maybe a heads up if you are going to run it, the weak point on these big Chevies (65-70) seem to be the rear crossmember where the upper control arms bolt to. Know a few guys who found our after, they ran slicks and high HP too. I plated and strengthen mine in the 65 Imp stocker I am building. I have a thread too with pics.

Good luck, thanks for the pics.

I plated the rear, basically the same setup you have. Also added a tubular crossmember behind the stock crossmember holding it all in place. My father said he ripped his out too.

I tore mine in a 65 Bel Air 4 door with a 230 and a 3 speed!

Love this build. In 1967 I would have been 10 years old but the 427 Biscaynes left an imprint on my brain.:) Am I remembering correctly that Richard Feldman had one? The "Mr. Security" car?

impstocker 07-04-2014 10:02 PM

Re: 1966 Biscayne Build

No, Richard Feldman's 66 was a 283 SS/O car- held records for many years, 11,30's He ran a G-Force 4 speed w/ a UNDERdriven 4 gear and 6:17's in the back! Lots of RPM

Will Lamprecht- 65 I/SA in progress

Are you sure? I just looked at Colseys Jr/Stk thread on the HAMB and it is mentioned several times as a B/S 427 car. This would have been in the late 60's.

Re: 1966 Biscayne Build

Feldman bought the 427 car new, I believe, and still has it .
The 283 HT was purchased in the early 80's ..I think it was the Abston /Gafnea car.

Re: 1966 Biscayne Build

Slowly working on it. Between work, family and racing my other Biscayne haven't had much time to finish it off. Waiting on the original material for the seats. The plan is to race it in Pro at Englishtown next year and run my other Biscayne in Super at Island.
