Looking to replace battery in stocker, cost is a consideration, however we all know that cheaper can cost more in the long run

Re: Light Weight Batteries

next ? how light is light?? personally I would look at a Braille or ,Deka (you can get DEKA at NAPA) or a Shorai which is a carbon fiber lithium ion battery both of these are 12 volt but you can get 16 volt too ---better get your wallet out if you go with carbon fiber or 16 volt they get pricey real quick

Just updated our Stocker with a Braille B3121 - 755 cranking amps and 21 lbs. We probably could have gone with the 18lb battery, but I'm a worry wart.

This Odyssey battery turns my 13:1 383 with solid roller valve springs.
It has 900 amps for 5 seconds.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Odyssey-Batter...PC925/10002/-1
Not sure why Jegs is so expensive. It is available at several places.
$147 -- http://www.amazon.com/Odyssey-PC925-.../dp/B0002ILK72

You will need to use metric bolts for the lugs or purchase the additional posts for post style.

Odyssey here as well. Pay attention to the part numbers if you are looking at Jegs or Summit. You do not want the battery with the MJ, it is a metal jacket, and adds weight. As Cad pointed out get the lugs, and the specific charger is a good investment. My first Odyssey lasted 5 years and failed during the off season. Battermart.com is where I have bought mine as they have free shipping and the battery has a 2 year warranty.

Re: Light Weight Batteries

Deka powersports batteries are AGM and half the cost of the Brand Names (Braile, etc) I have used the 18 lb and will replace it with the 21 lb this year. With FI and FI fuel pump, elect fan and WP, FI computer, etc the 18 lb is marginal if going rounds without time for charging. You can search Google or Amazon for the Deka batterys. (They may be the maker of the NAME batterys specs and weights seem the same))

Hey Bill I've been running the PC925MJT - Odyssey*battery for 6 years and no problems but thinking of switching to the Braille B14115C. It's pretty much the same cranking stats but half the weight. Only 11.5lbs compared to Odyssey 26lbs. Of course it's 100 bucks more :)

Re: Light Weight Batteries

Don - I would not use the 11.5 lb - it is very limited - tried that before the 18 lb - Call me Bob 401-474-3026 STK 1051

Bought mine direct, but Jegs sells them as well as others.

Re: Light Weight Batteries

lotsa people swear that Deka batteries are the same exact battery as a Braille and in fact East Penn mfg manufactures the Braille and Deka batteries in the same plant--- anyway the largest Braille sold is the B3121 and retails for around $230 plus shipping maybe better deals out there but that's what's posted tonite on Ebay--- DEKA ETX30L which is supposedly the same battery at least its a comparable battery is about $99 with FREE shipping from many suppliers--ya got an extra hun laying around buy 2 DEKAs and have a spare if your main battery dies--- I know what I would do---FED 387

Braille B3121 -

21lbs.
755cca
5 year warranty

DEKA ETX30L -

23lbs.
400cca
6 month to 1 year warranty

There must be some significant differences between the two.

Re: Light Weight Batteries

yes there is-- Braille exagerates the specifics of their battery

Re: Light Weight Batteries

Sounds like DEKA needs to up their warranty then.
