"Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
We are leaving first thing in the morning to begin a great adventure! We will be traveling with Stock racers Jim and Pam Marshall and Super stock racers Joe and Alice Tysinger. The Tysingers and us will be going to the division 2 points race in Reynolds, GA this weekend and the Marshalls are already in Dallas for the national event. We will then meet up and travel to Las Vegas for the national and divisional races and then on to Pomona for the World Finals! We thought about calling this the old "Geezers" tour or the Senior tour, but since we are going coast to coast, we thought the "sea to shining sea" tour would be appropriate! We hope to keep you up on the racing and post a few pictures of our great country along the way!
So here is our first photo of the trip: http://i368.photobucket.com/albums/o...EC026EEE_3.jpg Alice and Joe with the Atlantic Ocean in the background! |

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
OK, great deal. Here is our contribution. Kevin, my lovely 40 year Breast Cancer Survivor wife Carolyn, and your old overweight driver are going to Dallas. We are both in two classes and we plan on raiding B/SA and C/SA and some SS classes and for those interested, Jerry Savoie, Pro Stock Bike, is having Alligator on Friday night. Jerry and his wife and son took delivery of a new Hellcat today. And after doing Dallas (hot, dry) I am returning home to catch up on my fishing and Kevin is going west. Looking forward to the weekend. I will handle the Gulf Coast, Hill and Miss Patsy can handle the middle of the country and look after my guy in Sin City. Tysinger and lovely Ms. Tysinger (bet I spelt that wrong)(is spelt a word) will keep the whole ordeal in perspective. More as it unfolds.

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
I hope to join you this weekend on the first leg of your trip to see you off! Recent bad weather has put a cramp in my schedule but I hope to work it out. Look forward to all the sights of this great country through your camera lens!

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
When I grow up I want to be just like Larry and Patsy. Safe travels. See you out west.
P.S. They have some really good vineyards in So. California but I'm sure you already knew that. |
Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Larry, You realize you're going to need a picture from the Santa Monica Pier now, right?
I'll see you guys in Vegas...I don't know about hanging around with that Marshall character though ;-) |
Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Wish we could tag along. Hopefully next year. Have a great time. Mike & Barbara

Ya'll have way too much fun. Have a great time on your trip and best of luck at the races. I love your "Live From" posts.

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
A couple of New Englanders will be joining you on the way, Gene Monahan (Massachusetts) and Adam Strang (Vermont) are towing straight to Sin City and then Pomona.
I don't think that Geno and Adam have a "name" for their tour yet, but i am sure after it is all done with they will come up with some good ones. Good luck and safe travels to all. |

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Good morning Larry & Patsy, I can't thank you both enough for all these great "live from" posts and tours. There is no better way for someone that has to drive a desk to not only know about what's going on at the track........... who's who etc. and also see parts of our great country that I would most likely never be able to see. I only hope everyone can appreciate your efforts as I do.
God bless you both on your trip and safe racing. Walt P.S. I'm eagerly awaiting news about a certain division 1 Firebird that should be there to build her points lead. |

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
8.56 AM and the first race car is broadcasting sweet music to everyone's ears.
This is the first day I have slept in, 8.00 am, since before Bowling Green. The days have been full, working on getting ready to make this trip. The car has just not been cooperative at all. Replacing the hot water heater in the motorhome was a real chore. They place the water heater in first and build around it, by the time it was hooked up my hand looked like I went three rounds with a bobcat. Has anyone ever noticed how well brake kleen notifies you where every little break in your skin happens to be? Test and tune today. I got to get the car ready It still has oil on it from Bristol. Later. |
Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Thank you for the great pictures from on the road. The images and scenery of road trips is great memories and enjoyment for me. Good luck!

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Thanks for all the reporting you guys do. The pictures are awesome. It makes it seem like we are traveling with you. Be safe and go some rounds at each track you visit.

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
A big THANK YOU to the HIlls, the Tysingers and the Marshalls for taking us on their journey. I thoroughly enjoy their adventures, especially when it takes them more than a week-end. I have traveled a lot of the states, but only when I was 8-12 years old, so I really enjoy seeing their trip in pictures. Good Luck to all and safe travels and racing.

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
We had a little bad luck today in test and tune! The engine seized up! So we are leaving here in the morning to go back home and see how bad it is. Then we will make a decision on what to do next! Alice and Joe and Jim and Pam will continue the trip and hopefully we will be joining them!

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Bummer Larry! :(
I hope you're able to get it fixed and get out west here with the rest of the group. I will only be making the divisional in 'Vegas this year, but I'll be doing a little traveling next year (nothing yet like you all's travels, but more than I've done in a few years). Hopefully I'll see (meet) y'all in 'Vegas 3wks from today!!!! :) |
Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Larry and Patsy, safe travels tomorrow. We so so hope to join up with you two in a few days! Good luck with the car situation! Alice and Joe Tysinger.

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
It must be a bad weekend for "Live" reporters, my motor home broke down on I-20 last night. Broke a belt, no problem I have one, nope belt tensioner froze up. I don't have one of those....

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
We are on the road again headed home. Left the track before 6 this morning. We are now in stop and go traffic in Atlanta! I have a few pictures from yesterday that I will post after we get thru Atlanta!
|
Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Larry & Patsy, I'm really sorry to hear of the engine's misfortune. Seizing is never good. Also have to admit that I"ll miss those great travel pictures
you always post as you go down the road, plus your reports from the race itself. There will be a big hole in the events coverage without you two there. I hope the problem isn't serious, and you can resume the trip soon. God Bless you both and be safe. |

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
We are in Chattanooga now headed back home to see if the car is fixable quickly. Thanks to Wendy and Joe Tysinger for offering Wendy's car to use. Also Painter Stevenson offered to loan us his car. There is also a possibility of another pink Mopar out of Louisiana from Mr. Teuton! We should know by tomorrow the extent of the damage and will make a decision then on whether we will be able to continue our trip.
We got Alice signed up on Class Racer last night so she will be posting along the way out west. Pictures are still a possibility, too!! More to come!! |

Re: "Live" from our sea to shining sea tour 2015
Thanks for posting that picture of "Mutt & Jeff" (Larry and Ally).
It sure puts things into perspective. Ally's mom Sue is also in the picture (along with Ally's brother Steve in the background) off to the side. She could have stood next to Larry and made bookends to him. It just proves that good people come in all sizes. What a great shot. Here's hoping that Team Portatree does well in Reynolds. Walt |
