74 in Lemons 24

Hey, it's a build. Car has to be less than $500 but you can spend $25k on safety. Fed up with the drags, check these cats youtubes out. Kent, Kile and I racing in Houston in November. Build starts today. This hunk had 140 MPH speedo in it!!!!! Jake

Re: 74 in Lemons 24
Let me guess, spy.
The slick car lot salesman told you this is a "creampuff, clean, one owner, restorable, numbers matching, highly sought after collectable car", didn't he? |

Actually it is a real K code numbers matching cop car and hard to find. BUT I got that puppy for $250. It had sat in a field for so long the lower crank pulley bottom rusted off. They thought the engine was frozen but the open valves had rotted off and were on top of the pistons. After heads were off it rotated freely. The 140 MPH speedo is worth more than the whole car. Car is in the Lemon 24 wheelhouse. Houston Nov 10th, see what she will do in the straights. HP 440 with 3.23 posi. A hoot!!!
Somebody needs the FBI Coronet for CHEAP. Jane thinks I have lost my last marble. Team PEAUX-PEAUX |

Admission of the problem is the first step to recovery. But if this is really not a "problem".......Rock On Phish!!!! |

Reckon this floor will hold a seat and belts? 147 MPH anyone? Dumbeaux
Did find a nice wrench |
Re: 74 in Lemons 24
That's where that wrench went!
|
Re: 74 in Lemons 24
Well we would look like the Flintstones instead of the Justeauxs because the floor cam out with the mat. SO we have scrapped the Fury and scored another $500 Monaco which will get all the cop drivetrain someday. Lil' too purrty' be we can dumb her down. We will run the first race with it's 400 4BBL Leanburn unit. Should be here this week and scheduled for Madman Chassis mid June. Steveaux

The good news is infamous SST racer Boyd Moss scored a FREE RV with a low miles 1978 440 (the last year). The bad news is I had to work alone with the dually to get that puppy out. It started and ran no smoke with 150 compression. Gonna' be our spare bullet. Lemoneaux

Re: 74 in Lemons 24
"Gonna' be our spare bullet." Well, spare pellet, maybe. ;-)
Sounds like fun. "Ain't no car like a Mopar!" |

I hear you on the pellet, but we know somebody that can hop it up. The one owner Hooptie Monaco is here, now named project "ORANGE WHIP" . Worlds dirtiest motor, never had a wrench on it, 81000 miles, but the thing actually runs darn good. I think that is the starter in the photo?? Looks like a mixture of oil, mouse poop, mouse hair, cat hair, dog hair, one human hair and just the right amount of Nebraska dirt. Everything is original and works except the "cigarette lighter". Go figure.... Some nice stuff to part out to my fellow Blues Brothers. Jakeaux
PS anyone needing a stock 400 Lean Burn, I got it.....Sucker pulls good, 3.55 rear |

It WAS untouched but now stripped and ready for cage. We took the lean burn off as it missed at constant speed. Broadcast sheet was in the door. After two attempts to clean motor, still pretty bad. May just pull it as a spare and put one of the pellets in.

Frito had a GREAT idea. We will run one of these cars in stock. What class would a 74 Dodge Monaco run in? I see the 275 440 beater but what about the E86 375 440. I cant find it in the guide. Jakeaux
OK the 375 was in 69 so this is a 250 HP I think. Little less intense than the Phish.... |
Re: 74 in Lemons 24

Tea anyone? Have some lifters you can sip out of. Lemons 24 wheelhouse motor. Trying to get back on schedule with a cam on the way. Sold a lot of the parts we are required to remove so still under our $500 budget. Also got 92 bucks for the donor cop car. Looks like the police motors were labeled during assembly. Buford T.
