Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
I just purchased on of these to go into my cuda and am looking for some mounting options. There is no center console in the car and would like to see what other people have done
Thanks Dave |
Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
I bolted it directly to the tunnel with 1/4 inch bolts on our A body cars. My sons was little better fitting because of old floor shifter and the tunnel was flatter.

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
Bolt it to the floor after you find out what is a comfortable location for you.

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
I usually space the front of the shifter up some as the neutral safety switch is tight against the floor in some applications.

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
On my son's 73 Dart we used washers under the back because of the angle of the cable going through the floor. Like others have said, what fits best for your comfort.

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
Mine is mounted on a pedestal on the tunnel bringing the shifter up an closer to me.

Thanks to all for the help |
Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
I use a piece of angle iron, so its sits up higher, and i weld the angle to the floor, with some flat bar on the other side for support, then bolt the shifter to angle.

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
We do our like Rick said in our A Body stuff.
Round tubing with plates on both sides that brings it up a foot to foot and half above floor. I can E Mail you pics if you like. Mine is just a couple inches from the wheel so to reduce movement after leaving line. Of course......I am old and move slowly! |

Re: Mounting Turbo Action Shifter
I have a Hurst 1/4 stick but made my floor bracket from a piece of channel iron about 2" wide and 1/2" tall, maybe 1/8" thick. (My local Home Depot sells lengths of it. Drilled it to match the shifter mounting pattern and bolted it together with short 1/4" bolts.Nuts were then welded underneath to stay in place when shifter is removed. Then the channel piece was welded to the floor/tunnel in a comfortable location.
