Omg!!!! If have a motor vehicle in california please read

All motorcycle's and high performance cars new and old if you have a modified exhaust you can get a ticket for $1000 and one point on your license . This is not a fix it ticket , law says you will pay the fine, WOW.....

here's a link ....

https://speedsociety.com/break...ine-non-correctable/

This is NOT a emissions issue , any vehicle making above 95-decibel will be ticketed....any year, make or model.....

as always they have to PROVE you are above 95db-the CHP has had roving safety and DB test crews for years, but not every car has that capability. OTOH-as an older human wearing Hearing aids, many of the extremely loud Harleys etc completely immobilize me when walking outdoors and I know I speak for a majority of the population-too loud is too loud! It is unlikely anyone will be cited without the DB proof

It seems to me that an uncorked stocker is between 92 and 96 decibels at 50 feet. If you re running around in a street vehicle or custom bike that's louder than that, you're pretty obviously asking for it. When I was trying hard to both grow up(and not really grow up), they passed laws about glass packs and Corvair turbo mufflers.Just having them got you a fix it ticket. In 1974 I bought a '62 Impala hardtop with two rather old glass packs on it, got written up about the second week I owned the car, bought two new head pipes, two stock 2" inlet/outlet mufflers and some real nice short tailpipes with turndowns. We put all that stuff in the trunk to show any subsequent traffic officer in the event of another traffic stop regarding the glass packs, then went out one Friday night and indulged in the act of coasting up to a light in gear with the key switched off and then turning it on to produce a backfire. We blew off one tail pipe, and blew the other side muff and tailpipe clear off, so the next day I drove the car to the gas station I worked at,installed the new muffs and tailpipes and head pipes, tossed the old stuff in the dumpster, and instant silence. It was so much nicer having a quiet car, and no more problems with the local constabulary. Leave it to calipornia to add one more fee, fine, or tax onto our daily lives to run up the cost of living.

What's wrong with being fined if you're too loud? Are there a ton of vehicles out there over 95 dB?

I would say there is a signifigant amount based on the noise in my neighborhood-which is exactly how these laws come about. I have a neighbor with a new 18 Mustang Gt with the factory cut out software-it's LOUD! we are both unsure if it would pass the test and then whose responsibility is it? Ford manufactured it that way-I suppose since the driver can choose that setting, it becomes the drivers issue

That could be a fun court battle, since the law specifically mentions modified exhaust. If it is 100% bone stock but still too loud, does the law apply?

From what you're saying it's not modified but it's a factory exhaust system so I guess it's legal.

As a kid, the small Arkansas town where I grew up (I was 16 in 1968) had :

City Ordinance 616.

Excessive noise from an automobile / truck.
It was up to the officer as to what was acceptable "noise".

(open headers-loud glasspacks-tires squalling-no lid on air breather-music)

I remember it well. lol.

CA is now paying for the health insurance of illegals. Someone needs to pay. With such a strong presence of the auto industry in CA, I think its time for a revolution.

Back when nhra was on the muffler kick they had a setup at the dallas nats. They checked the dba of you car at 50 feet. Our 69 350/255 checked out at 88 dba at 3000rpm. Bobby Brannon,s 427/425 checked out at 93 dba. After that they dropped all talk about mufflers on stock/ superstock cars.

Great white flight! More people moving out of California than moving in. Oh, I forgot about the illegals. Never mind!

I don't get the fuss. When I built my Mustang in '14 it was driven to the track. State law read 80dB at 50 ft as the legal limit so I put mufflers on and pulled them at the track. You (in my opinion) have to be pretty inconsiderate to street a race car with open headers.
