An old video Yacavone ask to see.

1987 Warner Robins points meet. One of the biggest spots in class eliminations. At least for this race... Took me a while to get the VHS converted so sorry for the video quality. lol

Thanks , ..I think ;-)

The co-announcer mentioned the record holder signage. Bill and I went to W-R to set the record, which we did. I had the record holder script on magnetic tape, left over from my Citation. It was on there for Sunday.
I swear, it looked like a fender length. More like 3/4 car. 50 mph difference. :-O

I never knew how close it was until we go the video. From the starting line I didn't think he caught you and thought we were out. Dad told me it was close but he didn't get around you. We had a hard time at that meet. The car got rammed by a 4 wheeler with two fat girls on it. I had to beat the quarter panel out with a brass hammer. Dad wore a hole in his shifter glove and then his hand. hahah He had the old top loader with an H-pattern shifter in the car back then. Then on the way home we lost a tire on the open trailer and tore the other quarter panel up with the fender from the trailer. I had to repaint the whole car after that!

Very cool video! I can`t imagine that any NHRA dragstrips still have a grass strip between the lanes anymore. (or steel Armco guardrails). I imagine things could get ugly pretty quickly if a car got loose at 130 MPH and crossed a grass "centerline"!

I had never been to a track with grass in the center. Still haven't. I was really surprised when we got there. I wonder if it is still like that today?

The track was replaced by a high school back in the 90ties. Thankfully Ed Swearingen built the Reynolds, Ga track about that time to fill the void. The dirt in the center of the track was sometimes good for entertainment, if a car go into the dirt there was always a really big cloud of dust for while.
Warner Robbins hosted NHRA Divisionals from 1967 thru 1990 or so.

Hey Merrill, Doin' fine.
For some reason, Aaron didn't connect with me yet. I knew it was someone who knew a lot of S/S trivia.
You were parked there in the woods near us that day, right? Good times !

First points race I ever went to was Warner Robbins around 76 or 77. My uncle had the Nitro 9 SS/F mustang. I met Jim Kinnett with his SS/AA Barracuda. Steve Bagwell and Richard Griffin with the Hemi cars and my aunt and uncle introduced me to a lady named Amy Faulk, I was like wow, a girl races, she can't be any good. My uncle got her about the 2nd or 3rd round and she kicked his butt. She turned out to be pretty good huh. LOL My uncle broke a tranny the night before and we ended up at Barry Hutter's dealership about midnight fixing the tranny and putting back in the car, great memories. And I do remember running down into the crops when they were digging an alcohol guy out.

I wish I had a copy of my run against the FS/A at Indy. Talk about a freight train.

This was probably 1986. My A/S Camaro against Joe Moore's D/FS at Bowling Green. Before the days of easy video.
