Jacket and pants recommendations

Oh! oh! I tried on my jacket and pants that have hung in the closet far too long and either they shrunk or I expanded. Currently RCI single layer XL. Going by that likely 2XL in same brand and again single layer should be fine. My questions are what brand do you find coolest, softest most comfortable? And size and fit compared to the RCI stuff if that is the brand you changed from? I never did find the current RCI stuff to be the softest or most comfortable, kinda like putting on cardboard pants and jacket. Also differences in coolness, fit and weight compared to double layer? My stocker will never require double layer but a bracket car I may drive in the future could be close to double layer requirements. Thoughts suggestions and experiences welcomed.

Must have been caused by Covid! :D
Like 57 Vette suggested; Biondo.

Before you buy, at least look at Pro 1 Safety. Jeff and Charlotte are great folks to deal with they have a great selection of jackets, pants, gloves, seat belts, both are racers and their customer service is Second to None. Did I mention they pay Contingency. No Brainer ???

I just checked them out and they won’t ship to Canada.

Are the pro 1's as lite as the Sparco's?

Just used my Pro1 seat belts last weekend and was so happy with them I came home and purchased the jacket and pants. They pay contingency and for me that pushed them over the top among others, plus the price point and quality are second to none. Racers supporting racers is a WIN WIN.

So which one would be lighter? The Pro 1's or the Sparco's? Thanks

The Sparco web site says the MAXX-SPORT Light Pro SFI-5 jacket and pants are 1lb 13oz each 3lbs 10oz combined. I should receive my Pro1 Pro 1 Multi Layer Nomex 3-2A/5 jacket and pants tomorrow and will weigh them and post if no one else responds. My UPS tracking shows my package is 3lbs so I'm curious as well now.

Anybody know the TPP rating of either suit?

Herbie, i bought the light weight 3-2A/5 jacket and pants fro Pro 1 at the Ennis event ,I like them so much i told everyone that would slow down long enough to check them out, took a couple friends over to their trackside support trailer and they bought jackets and pants also. Racing in the Texas heat is a little easier now.

Pro1 large jacket and Large extra length pants, I got 4lbs on the dot. Happy with the fit and looks great. Unless your longer than 34 length I would get regular length.

Re: Jacket and pants recommendations

Sorry to hear about your jacket and pants dilemma. I love the Alpinestars brand for motorcycle gear, as their jackets and pants are comfortable and protective. As for sizing, it's always best to check the brand's size chart and measure yourself to ensure a proper fit. I haven't tried RCI gear before, so I can't compare, but a double-layer bag can be a bit warmer and heavier but provides more protection. I've also had good experiences buying UK men's tuxedos at https://happygentleman.com/product-c...-tuxedo-suits/. I wish you the best of luck and all the best.

I really liked my Sparco single-layer stuff, but I replaced it with Pro1.

The Pro1 waistband is great. Snap closure and velcro adjustable sizing.

I can definitely see an argument against snaps on a firesuit but if you're in a situation where that's a problem, it's just one more of many problems.

You just have to contact Jerome Beaulieu from PRO1safety in Canada for all your needs and his list of Canadian distributors.

I'm guessing that this thread was brought back by a bot or something? I mean, someone is suddenly sorry to hear about Doug Domm's pants and jacket dilemma from 2 years ago?

I don't know anything about this bot (or whatever) stuff. What is the angle? There's nothing to click on in the post.

Don't know which are lighter, but I hav Pro1 harness, jacket, and pants. I love the pants because they have 2 snaps and velcro side straps so I can snug them up after I get them on my fat *****.

Re: Jacket and pants recommendations

Sorry I didn’t update sooner but I ended up with Racequip jacket and pants. I bought the Chevron version multiple layer. They are lighter, softer and much more comfortable than my old stuff even when those did fit. I’m also impressed that even with being multiple layer Nomex they are not nearly as unbearable to wear in100 degree heat unlike my old stuff. Doug

I bought Pro 1 pants and got to use them on Friday at Orlando. They fit as advertised. I was impressed with the quality and fit. I liked the adjustable Velcro waist band and two snaps and Velcro. When I need a new jacket I will get one from them. The pants fit perfectly and we’re very comfortable. Not real thick and bulky like my last pair.
