Tech West Racing

Sent two MSD boxes at the end of Feb. Been calling but no return call to my messages. Anybody know the skinny?

I see him advertising on Facebook periodically so I guess he is still around. Mostly bad reviews on this site.

Periodically is generous. I feel like I see one of his ads somewhere every 2-3 days.

I have a friend that just hand delivered his box to him in hopes of having it back this week, we'll see. I tried just to contact him a while back and could not get a response. Then suddenly he's everywhere on FB. I never got a response, so I went with MSD for my repair.

Think your friend could check on my stuff? That is if he returns there. I'm about 600 miles away. Already had to borrow a box to start this season.

I tried westech. Gave him 2 7al2 boxes
Didn’t last a year. Warranty zero. BECAUSE HE Doesn’t respond
Sent 4 boxes to MsD. I paid less $400 for the repair

Paid $350 to Wes tech. FucHIM

Have delt with him twice. first time worked fine for a while then give me a problem sent it back with another box and he fixed it no charge and repaired the other one and have not had a reason to use either one yet.

We have tried his modified box and the old Analog MSD back
to back several times = No difference in performance on our stockers!
Lucky if they last 10 races and then make a lot of very expensive smoke!!

I have had nothing but good experiences dealing with MSD repair. It works when you get it back and not a lot of $. Bill Taylor B/S 1005

I don't think he's picking it up. If I talk to him I'll ask if he's picking up or having it sent.

Always had great service from MSD, however, next ignition purchase I will be looking at Daytona Sensors. They state made in USA.

Daytona Sensors were formally the Crane Ignition folks.
Their products are well-engineered and perform.

Exactly, Crane stuff worked well.

I bought a 7AL-2Plus a while back.. put it in the car, and it acted like it was at full advance.. car would hardly turn over, let alone start.. sent it back to MSD, and was told the box is fine, must be another problem.. put the 7AL-2 back in, NO PROBLEM.. now have a 7AL-3 (black box), NO PROBLEM.. sent the 7AL-2Plus to TechWest, and explained the problem.. I was told that they found a problem, and repaired it.. put it in the car for ****s and giggles, sounded like full advance, not turning over like a dead battery, and OF COURSE, no start.. sounds like same problem, different day.. except it cost money.. I'd like someone to fix it right so I can sell the 7AL-2 and the 7AL-2Plus.. I'll stick with the 7AL-3, thank you very much..

Not a fan of TechWest, or MSD, at this point..

My friend is having the box shipped back to him, I'll post the results.

FWIW I spoke to my friend today, his box arrived Wed. by the mail. He had tracked it and there was a holdup in Charlotte or it would have arrived sooner. The car does run and he'll see tonight if it's fixed, had a problem at higher RPMs. I'm just reporting and in no way is this any endorsement or anything else. I have heard all of the stories and I personally could not get a response when I needed a box fixed.

Another FWIW I see Racer Tees is advertising on FB again, plenty of horror stories there too.

My stuff has been there over two and a half months. Keep calling weekly and there is no reply. Your buddy gets his turned around in a timely manner. Just don't get it.???????

Don't know what to say. The box does work as he tested the car Friday.

Happy for your bud and nice to know he fixed his problem. I'll keep trying on my stuff. Starting to wear me out. NOT GOOD !

Just thought I'd follow up, my friend's box isn't fixed. Doing the same thing as before. If he installs a high side chip the ignition will go to rev limit no matter what chip he installs. No chip in that spot no problems which is what it did before. So $200 and he still has the problem.

I know this is an old thread but there is a guy on the Bullet that is repairing MSD ignitions. He says he can also repair Grids. I haven't done business with him just passing on his info because I know there are many here who have needed work done.
