TH200 parts
Wondering where i can get a manual vlave body or kit for a th200 metric, and a turbo spline input shaft as well. Trying to put this car together as low buck as possible, i already have a good working 200 that i can rebuild, rather than buy a whole new tranny.
Thanks, Chris |

Re: TH200 parts
I didn't think McClay would sell those parts seperatly. Will he?

Re: TH200 parts
You Are Correct Todd.maybe Turbo Action
|
Re: TH200 parts
Turbo Action does list a reverse pattern valve body.

Re: TH200 parts
Scott McClay told me recently that he only sells parts to customers who purchase his transmission. I was attempting to purchase his side case brace and deep pan. I have experienced several cracked cases in the bellhousing area about where the recess is formed for the dipstick and the case is thin. I fabricated my own case brace from aluminum plate and purchased a very nice cast aluminum deep pan from Turbo Action. These changes hopefully will strengthen the case enough to prevent further cracking, so far no further problems. I don't think you can easily use a TH-350 converter with a simple shaft change, but require a more involved internal modification.
There is an excellent Canadian TH-200 builder, Jim Mantle, located in Black Creek, B.C. He does his own proprietary valve body and extensive internal detailing, and at an affordable cost. I've run Jim's stuff for years with excellent results, and he's a great guy to deal with. Jim races in stock eliminator himself and understands what we need. Send me a PM or email me at grant4060@yahoo.com if you are interested in contacting Jim and I'll get back to you with his contact info. |
Re: TH200 parts
That would be Leo Glassbrenner.Remac Transmissions is the name. He races a fast F/SA 68 Firebird in division 7. I've heard very good things about him and his transmissions. They are fast and reliable, and he is a good guy to deal with.

Re: TH200 parts
Zracer305,
I wasn't trying to be funny, but Leo is a very good Tranny guy and Racer...Word travels fast and his cars are fast, so what can you say !! Very Impressive... Yes, I run a T- 200 and have been with Sepanek Trans for several years... He is very dependable and know his stuff and will work with you all the way... Like I always say he is the best keep secret in racing...Trouble free trannys and always updating....Yes, they are worth the money and will pick you up... Call him, you won't be sorry... Nothing new for 2008, except staying away from those FI cars... enjoy, Dave |
Re: TH200 parts
anyone trying the light th400?

Re: TH200 parts
One thing that may help on the case breakage problem is to run a rubber trans mount. Many racers use a solid steel mount, and that puts a big twist through the trans, if there is any chassis flex. This is actually good advice for any transmission, not just the 200.
|
Re: TH200 parts
SS/3011,
You are exactly right about the tranny mount.. The last time I broke a case I was using a solid mount, never again.. The tranny needs to flex a little or you will have nothing but problems.. No- problems with trannys since, the other thing to do is an engine strap on drivers side, that also helped.... Good luck, Dave, |
Re: TH200 parts
Ditto on rubber rear mount and torque strap on driver's side of motor. With those, the side brace and cast pan have had no further case problems. One other problem area could be the stock cast stator support on the front pump. I've broken one, and a local Firebird racer has also experienced that failure using the TH-200. Jim Mantle has a fix he's developed for that by re-machining the pump to accept a specially modified steel stator support......

Re: TH200 parts
Thank you all, We've been die hard th350 users, but areg oing to try this 200, and i never would hve thought something as simple as a cast pan would help he case live, but it makes sense now!
Thanks again, Chris |
